Meg Mathews, former wife of Oasis singer Noel Gallagher, is addressing rumors after being seen exiting Oasis’ highly anticipated reunion show early on Friday, July 4.

The band played to more than 70,000 fans at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium, marking their first performance together in 16 years. But as the encore rolled in, eagle-eyed attendees noticed Mathews leaving during “Wonderwall,” the track long rumored to be inspired by her.

The speculation came quickly, but Mathews responded with a direct message on Instagram the next day.

“5 stars, loved every minute thank you Oasis…you were brilliant.”

She followed that up with a pointed clarification for the press:

“And to all the F—ing papers I left before the encore as I have left many a stadium at the end and it’s carnage…..But yes I could hear ‘Wonderwall’ as I walked to my car! Happy now..”

Mathews, who was married to Noel from 1997 to 2001 and shares a daughter with him, added that the show was “worth the countdown.”

Their daughter, Anaïs Gallagher, was also at the Cardiff show and shared her own take via Instagram:

“It’s good to be back,”

Anaïs was referencing the opening lyrics to the band’s first song of the night, “Hello.”

Oasis kicks off the second Cardiff show with a bow — and a nostalgia-packed setlist

Meg Matthews’ reported early exit from Oasis’ second Cardiff show followed a surprising onstage moment between Liam and Noel Gallagher, who bowed to each other: a gesture few fans ever thought they’d witness again.

The brothers returned to Principality Stadium on July 5 for the second of two back-to-back sold-out shows, continuing their Live '25 tour, their first in 16 years.

The show opened with a warm moment as Noel and Liam walked onstage hand in hand, bowed to each other, and then took up their places on opposite sides of the stage before launching into “Hello” again.

Thereon, the setlist delivered fan favorites, including “Morning Glory,” “Cigarettes & Alcohol,” and “Supersonic.” The crowd once again belted out the band’s big three to close the night: “Don’t Look Back In Anger,” “Wonderwall,” and “Champagne Supernova.”

Meanwhile, night one in Cardiff included a few standout moments beyond the setlist. Both brothers took jabs at Ticketmaster’s dynamic pricing, and during “Live Forever,” a tribute was paid to Liverpool footballer Diogo Jota, who tragically died in a car accident a day before the show.

Oasis’ reunion tour continues with five shows at Manchester’s Heaton Park and seven at London’s Wembley Stadium. The band will also stop in Dublin, Edinburgh, North America, South America, Australia, South Korea, and Japan.
