For the past year, artists have been teasing clips, snippets and potential collaborations to create a buzz for their new music. Some artists even released singles to portray the sound and vibe of their upcoming tracks, like Sabrina Carpenter and her chart-topping single Manchild, which came out earlier in June.

Expected to release on the August 15, Love Is Like by Maroon 5 marks the band's 8th studio album, and their first album after 4 years. The 10-track album is followed by their 2021 studio album JORDI and will feature collaborations with Sexxy Red, Lil Wayne, and their recent release with BLACKPINK's Lisa.

Rich Brian: Where Is My Head?

Releasing on August 15, 88rising's rapper Rich Brian is coming out with his studio project, Where Is My Head? The album is the first full-length project since the 2019 album The Sailor and features 15 tracks. Out of that, on March 14, Brian released Little Ray Of Light, which is the lead single of the album, followed by Butterfly on April 25.

The initial release of the album was supposed to be May 23; however, the rapper announced on May 14 that he is postponing the music due to a stroke of inspiration.

"Hi guys :) I’ve been so inspired these past few months… incredibly inspired by the people, places and sounds surrounding me. With that im making the best music I feel I’ve ever made, new songs that I want to add to this album but I’ll need some more time, so I’m moving my album date to August 15th. I am very sorry, but to make up for it there will be more music coming out & you’ll be hearing alot from me until then, thank you so much for your patience :) – Brian"

After six years, since his 2019 album The Big Day, Chance the Rapper is releasing his new album Star Line on August 15. The album also marks a reunion for him and artist Brandon Breaux, who worked on this album's cover along with 10 Day, Acid Rap, and Coloring Book.

Deftones: private music

Alt metal band Deftones is releasing their tenth studio album, private music, on 22 August, featuring their new single my mind is a mountain, which came out in July. The group first brought up the new album during a backstage interview at Coachella with radio station KROQ, where the group's frontman, Chino Moreno, stated:

“Basically, where we’re sitting right now is we have a whole record recorded all musically. And it’s pretty much my job right now to finish up the vocals. And I have, obviously, this show again next week, and then straight after that, I go back home to Oregon and I go in the studio. So as long as that takes… I hate to put a definite kind of timeframe, ’cause we’re not really in a rush. We want it to be great. I think that’s most important. But it is coming, and, yeah, it’s really good. We’re really excited with what we’ve been working on. And everybody’s jazzed."

Kid Cudi: Free

Another big August 22 release is Kid Cudi's upcoming album, Free. The album is tied in with the newly launched Moon Man comic, and already has 2 songs from the album released, Neverland and Grave.

“I wanted something that really expressed freedom, so the concept of me leaping into the clouds made so much sense,” Cudi wrote in the announcement post’s caption. “Inspired by The Truman Show. I can’t WAIT for u guys to hear this album and really see the album art brought to life. You’re in for a beautiful ride. Promise.”
