Addison Rae slays a star-studded NYC album release show.
Pop Star Addison Rae just had a launch show for her debut album "Addison" in New York, and the event left fans absolutely star-struck. The rising star took over the nightclub The Box as a partnership with Spotify for a live performance. In pure Addison fashion, instead of any other live performance where the singer just sings a few songs, she gave a full-on conceptual performance, taking a page from one of her idols' books, Britney Spears.
The show was attended by friends and industry peers alike. Names included Conan Gray, Julia Fox, Richie Shazam, Clairo, Lola Tung, and Jade Thirlwall, making it quite a star-studded affair.
Rae started the set with her new release, Fame is a Gun, rolling on stage with a bed tied to!!! In nothing but lingerie, showing that she was here to make her mark. Given the glamorous vibe of the iconic NYC club, decked out with aerial dancers, she then delivered a new rendition of High Fashion, with a touch of Cabaret. This was also a reference to the Y2k starlet, as Spears reworked her hit "...Baby One More Time" into a cabaret version on 2004's Onyx Hotel Tour.
After a break, Addison Rae took the stage again with "Aquamarine," donning a fun little dress, followed by "New York," followed by "Diet Pepsi," for which she again changed outfits and opted for a more Americana aesthetic with denim shorts and a white top. During "Diet Pepsi," the singer also asked the audience to sing along with her, after all, it is the song that started it all for her and led to her rebrand.
In the end, she performed an encore of the song "Times Like These," from the album. The performance, where she was joined by dancers wearing bras and denim, can be considered another nod to Britney and her 2007 M+M's Tour of nightclubs.
Addison Rae addressed the crowd with a champagne toast and said,
"Thank you for being here with us tonight," said Rae. "Now, go get drunk and have fun!"
According to Lucy Davidson, label partnerships at Spotify,
"We partnered with Addison to create an unforgettable night, a true immersion into the unique, colorful, dreamy world of her debut album," she further added, "From the dancers to the iconic New York venue, every detail was designed to bring Addison to life," continues Davidson. "From the dancers to the iconic New York venue, every detail was designed to bring Addison to life. At Spotify, that's always our goal — creating moments that fans will always remember, and after seeing the reaction in the room last night it’s clear that was achieved."
From flowy movements, cabaret-esque performance, ever-flowing drinks, and a new pop album, it truly was a mark of the beginning of Addison Rae's career. The growing star went from guest-starring at her friend's set to her own live show, showcasing what's more to come for her.
