Addison Rae joins a growing list of celebrities invited to the Recording Academy’s 2025 membership class.
The academy handed out about 3,600 invitations to music professionals this week, of “diverse backgrounds, genres and disciplines.” The Academy has revealed that this year's class comprises 49% women, 56% people of color, and 60% under the age of 40. Of these, 2,600 have been invited as voting members and the rest as non-voting professional members.
Addison Rae, who is now going by mononymously, has joined other invitees like Mariah The Scientist, Joey Bada$$, the girl band KATSEYE, and Grupo Firme. Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. stated:
"For today’s music creators, Grammy membership opens up an incredible set of opportunities. Not only do voting members get the chance to honor their peers with Grammy nominations and awards, Academy members get access to hands-on experience, skill development to advance their careers, exposure to peers and mentors in the music industry and be part of an organization shaping the future of music.”
Addison Rae says she is honored to join The Recording Academy
As per The Recording Academy, Addison Rae has since issued a statement formally accepting the invite:
“It is a huge honor to join the Recording Academy/GRAMMYs 2025 New Member Class. I am so lucky to be surrounded by talent and poise that inspires me to create fearlessly and help encourage others to do so as well. Thank you for this incredible opportunity!”
According to the academy's website, all new members, including Addison Rae, will now be a part of several initiatives, like the DREAM Initiative, which "spotlights cultural contributions of creators and implements member resource groups " to "drive meaningful progress and lasting impact across the music community."
These new members are also eligible to vote for the Grammy Awards, giving them a chance at shaping the history of music. However, those invited must accept by July 31 to participate in the Online Entry Process (OEP) for the forthcoming awards ceremony, should they wish to become Recording Academy members.
Like Addison Rae, Joey Bada$$ has also issued a statement acknowledging the invitation and extending his thanks to the academy:
“Being invited to join the Recording Academy is a true honor and a powerful acknowledgment of the work I’ve put into my craft. It’s more than just recognition, it’s an opportunity to have a voice in shaping the future of music and to stand alongside the artists and creators I respect most,” he stated, adding, “I’m proud to represent not just myself, but the culture and community that raised me.”
Mariah chimed in to echo the sentiments:
“Honored to be part of the Recording Academy’s 2025 New Membership Class. I’ve always made music from a real place — honest, vulnerable, mine. To be invited into a space that uplifts artists like me is a full-circle moment. Grateful to be seen, and ready to stand for the future of music.”
According to Billboard, the first round of voting for the next ceremony opens on October 3 and closes 12 days later, on October 15. Nominations will subsequently be announced on November 7. After that, the final round of voting commences from December 12 to January 5, 2026. The ceremony is scheduled for February 1, 2026.
