Addison Rae is making headlines for her self-titled album, which was written and produced by only three women.
The TikToker-turned-songstress first made headlines when she revealed that her first solo project was eponymous, and then when news broke out that it features no other artist but herself.
Now, it's going viral once again as news seems to have broken out on social media that the project features the work of co-producers Luka Kloser, Elvira Anderfjärd, and Tove Burman.
Scores online are reacting to the news with love, with many even referring to Addison Rae as a "girl's girl," i.e., a woman who always wishes the best for other women, and the epitome of "women's power."
Everything we know about Addison Rae's latest album:
The 24-year-old pop singer, who still boasts 88 million followers on TikTok, has been rebranding herself over the last few months, as she dropped fresh singles like Diet Pepsi, Aquamarine, High Fashion, Headphones On, and Fame Is a Gun.
Her album, Addison, dropped on June 6, and it features 12 tracks. She celebrated the news in a post on Instagram, as she captioned it:
"'Addison’ is out now and alive everywhere in the universe for you to receiveeeeeee!!! This is my most personal and intimate possession. Making music is vulnerable, energetically sensitive, electric, gratifying, challenging…... pure magic. I am unbelievably proud. I am looking up to the sky with fingers interlaced.. lucky. Everyone who was and is involved in this project is a genius. Thank you to my beloved friends and fans for sharing this moment in time with me. I love you. I hope you dance and lose yourself to the music. Feel free. Be fearless. 🎆🎇💕🪶🪞🌼🌠🪷🌙✨🌅🌌💎⚖️⛓️🔮🎀🪄☮️⚜️🍀."
That day, at midnight, Addison Rae also dropped her sixth single, as well as its accompanying visuals. The track, Times Like These, explores the singer's vulnerability and her past and current troubles.
Hours before the album dropped, Addison Rae was performing for a private show at the Spotify-hosted Box in New York City, where she delivered live renditions of some previously unheard-of songs. She then made a pit stop at a Matchaful to debut her "Summer Forever" drink in collaboration with the cafe.
Shaad D'Souza of The Guardian has given Addison 4 stars out of 5, noting that the
"Exceptional debut album reminds me of that unimpeachable run of Madonna records, understanding that supreme confidence and exceptional taste can sell even the most unusual album. It’s both familiar – Rae is an artist who unapologetically lives and dies by her references – and totally bold: I get the sense that she is less trying to say “this is who I am” as much as “this is what pop should be”."
During a recent interview with Zane Lowe for Apple Music 1, Addison Rae reflected on how important her forthcoming venture was for her and how she was hoping it would be appreciated when it comes out:
“I think I’m in the space right now where I’m just really anticipating it coming out, and I’m like, trying to hit all the stops,” she said ahead of its debut. “And even with posting and feeling like, ‘Okay, well, I really want to make sure I give this the credit and the energy that it deserves.’ I think sometimes I shy away from that because I’ll be like … ‘Is it going to be too much if I’m just like, ‘Alright, everybody! The album’s this many days away’ … Sometimes I get onto myself about that and I’ll be like, ‘No, it deserves that.’”
During a recent interview with Elle, Addison Rae also acknowledged the risks that came with pursuing her current career:
“I just had this really strong intuition and gut feeling that, as unrealistic as it seemed, I needed to do it — there’s no time like now to try and chase those dreams."
