Rapper Yeat got fans excited by hinting at his new music project this year, with an enigmatic post on his Instagram story. According to the verified X account of Kurrco, the rapper posted a photo with a caption on it that read:
“DANGEROUS SUMMER OMG.”
This has led fans to guess that he's teasing his upcoming album, A Dangerous Lyfe.
Yeat was busy in 2024, dropping two projects. He announced that A Dangerous Lyfe, his next solo album, would arrive sometime in 2025.
He is known to create music in a spur-of-the-moment way. According to HotNewHipHop, during an interview with The Fader last year the rapper shared that he almost never writes down his lyrics. Instead, he relies on freestyling, guided by his emotions and instincts.
"I don’t write anything, everything just comes off the top," the rapper explained. "It could feel very personal, but then four bars later I’m sh*t talking. It’s like your life, everything’s back and forth." Yeat said. "If I really like the adlib I was singing," he explained to the outlet. "I don’t even know how to make beats. I'll pull up a GarageBand synth and then turn that into what I was singing."
"AOTY," an X user commented on the news.
Fans react as Yeat seemingly teases his upcoming album
Fans have responded in different ways. Some feel excited about new music, while others remain doubtful.
"Every track these new artists make gotta be dangerous. Bruh would it kill y’all to make a track to just vibe to?" an X user said.
"Dude got one more fluke album, & ima start correlating him with Ian," another shared.
"We will be there," an X user wrote.
"He needs to end the Lyfe saga start sum new," another reacted.
"WE are ready for this album," a fan wrote on X.
Even with the mixed opinions, the rapper stays in the spotlight. His music still gets people talking no matter the debate.
Yeat and Don Toliver gear up for collaborative album ahead of Summer Smash Festival
Yeat's fans have more to look forward to than rumors about a solo album. On June 20, he and Don Toliver will headline the Summer Smash Festival. This won’t be an ordinary festival set either. A Pitchfork feature revealed the duo is planning to drop a collaborative album before the big event. This collaboration is a standout moment since both artists are celebrated for their distinct sounds and loyal followings. Big names like Drake and Travis Scott have supported them, and people are waiting to see what their new collaboration will bring.
The rapper is known to rely on auto-tune for his vocals since the beginning of his music career. In 2021, he shifted toward a harsher sound with heavy synths, aligning himself with rappers who embraced 'rage beats.' According to his Wikipedia page, He grew up listening to T-Pain calling him 'The GOAT of Auto-Tune.' Yeat's distinct vocal tone comes from a preset shared by former collaborator Weiland.
On his album 2093, Yeat blends futuristic beats with rage rap and electronic vibes, trying out new sounds. He stands out by creating his own slang with terms like "twizzy," "krank," and "luh geeky." When talking about luxury SUVs, he calls them "Tonka trucks" or just "Tonkas." He picked up the habit of inventing words because his dad used to make up words when the rapper was a kid.
Yeat’s songs have become a big hit in internet memes because of his unique use of bell sounds in his tracks. A good example is his song Get Busy.
