The Backstreet Boys officially launched a new chapter in their pop legacy on July 11, as they became the first pop group to perform at the Sphere in Las Vegas. The opening night of their “Into the Millennium” residency was a dazzling, nearly two-hour spectacle that merged nostalgia with cutting-edge visuals. And at the heart of it all? A hit-filled 25-song setlist that spanned the band’s 30-year career.

So what did they play? The evening opened with the explosive anthem “Larger Than Life” and closed, fittingly, with the timeless party-starter “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back).” Along the way, they delivered chart-toppers like “I Want It That Way” and “Quit Playing Games (With My Heart),” deep cuts like “Siberia,” and even debuted a new track, “Hey,” from their freshly released Millennium 2.0 album.

With 20 more performances scheduled through August 24, the Backstreet Boys’ immersive residency is already being hailed as one of the most ambitious pop productions of the year.

The night started with a bang as the Backstreet Boys launched into their rendition of ‘Larger Than Life’. This set the stage for an extravagant performance that included elaborate visuals, choreography, and vocal skills. Every song had its own immersive graphics displayed on the Sphere’s 360-degree dome, including the shimmering blue hues of ‘Show Me the Meaning’ and the heartfelt ambiance of ‘The Perfect Fan’.

The set also heavily leaned into fan appreciation. In addition to their blockbuster hits, the Boys sang emotional album tracks like ‘Don’t Wanna Lose You Now’ and ‘No One Comes Close’, which drove emotional response from the die-hard fans. The fans also welcomed the live debut of “Hey”, an upbeat mid-tempo song with fresh touches, with thunderous approval as though it had been well-loved for years.
