Three Doors Down lead singer Brad Arnold has been diagnosed with stage 4 kidney cancer.
The musician took to Instagram on Wednesday to inform fans about “some not-so-good news” in a video, adding,
“I’ve been sick a couple of weeks ago and then went to the hospital and got checked out.” That's when he “got the diagnosis that I had clear cell renal carcinoma that had metastasized into my lung. And that’s stage 4, and that’s not real good.”
Nonetheless, the Kryptonite singer noted he has “no fear” about tackling treatment as he falls back on his faith:
“We serve a mighty God, and he can overcome anything. So I have no fear. I really, sincerely am not scared of it at all, but it is going to force us to cancel our tour this summer and we’re sorry for that,” he said. “And I’d love it if you lift me up in prayer every chance you get. And Ithink it is time for me to go listen to ‘It’s Not My Time’ a little bit, right?”
Brad Arnold has a net worth of $1 million, Celebrity Net Worth states. He is most known for serving as the founding member, lead vocalist, and drummer of 3 Doors Down, which was formed in 1996 in Escatawpa, Mississippi.
The group, comprised of members Brad Arnold, Chris Henderson, Greg Upchurch, Chet Roberts, and Justin Biltonen, is known for its hits like Kryptonite, When I'm Gone, and Here Without You.
Everything we know about Brad Arnold's disease as he calls on fans to pray for him:
Fox News has reported that Brad Arnold's band will now have to cancel their tour as he battles the illness. In his Instagram video, the 46-year-old was referencing one of 3 Door's Down's biggest hits, which is a triple-platinum single that dominated the adult contemporary and mainstream rock airplay charts in 2008. As reported by Variety, it also peaked at No. 1 on the Hot 100.
“Thank you guys so much,” Arnold concluded his video. “God loves you. We love you. See you.”
The singer also echoed the sentiments in his caption, writing,
“Thank you for all the memories so far. Now I believe ‘It’s Not My Time’ is really my song. This’ll be a battle so we need our prayer warriors! Thank y’all for being the best fans in the world. We love y’all!”
The National Cancer Institute reports that clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRC) is one of the most common types of kidney cancer. Treatments depend on how advanced the disease has become, and typically include immunotherapy and partial or full removal of the kidney.
