Bruce Springsteen, in a recent interview with Rolling Stone, revealed a previously unknown detail about his 1984 Grammy-nominated album, Born in the U.S.A. In his interview, he said that he was, in some ways, unsure about the possibility of the success of the album, and also added that he was, in fact, not sure about making it. He said:

"From conception to execution, it was not necessarily the record that in my mind I had planned on, but that’s the way creativity works. You go in the studio, you have an idea. It’s not necessarily what you come out with. So that was just the situation of that record for me personally."

Bruce Springsteen is set to release a collection of seven albums, titled Track II: The Lost Albums, later this month on June 27. According to People Magazine, this collection will feature songs spanning over thirty-five years, from 1983 to 2018, and will also include a soundtrack for an unspecified movie that was ultimately scrapped.

More about Bruce Springsteen's latest interview, as he confesses to almost not wanting to make his legendary album

Bruce Springsteen, who sat down for an interview with Rolling Stone, published on June 19, said that before releasing his critically acclaimed album, Born in the U.S.A., he was not sure how successful it would eventually become, especially after the release of his 1982 album, Nebraska. He said:

"I enjoyed the recording and the experience of Nebraska, and thought I might continue in that vein with a small rhythm section, still very lo-fi, and a new group of songs. At the time, I wasn’t sure where I was going with Born in the U.S.A. I had half the record, but I didn’t have the other half. And so it was just a record that happened in between those two records."

He further added that he had initially planned the album, which was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2012, in a different manner. Bruce Springsteen added that later on, the album, however, turned into something different. He said:

"It was a record I put out. It became the record I made, not necessarily the record that I was interested in making."

Bruce Springsteen further added:

"I was interested in taking Nebraska and making a full record that had somewhat that same feeling. If you hear 'My Hometown' and you hear 'Born in the U.S.A.,' they were sort of the bookends I intended. And the rest of the stuff was … just what I had at the time. Those were the songs I wrote. Those were the songs I recorded."

According to People Magazine, a new movie, titled Deliver Me From Nowhere, based on Bruce Springsteen's life, is set to release on October 24 this year and will star Emmy-winning actor Jeremy Allen White in the titular role.
