Korean girl group NewJeans has reportedly been at odds with its agency, Ador. According to the Korean news outlet, The Korean Herald, the group reportedly appeared for their third hearing on July 24, linked to the Ador lawsuit. The news outlet reported that New Jeans had made a unilateral decision to move away from the agency in November 2024.
While it is unclear if ADOR will be able to win back the girl group comprising Hanni, Minji, Hyein, Haerin, and Danielle. According to AllKpop News, representatives of both parties appeared in court to deliver 30-minute presentations about their arguments.
Additionally, the news outlet alleged that Ador's representatives presented a "message" sent by CEO Min Hee Jin. The representatives added a non-negotiable condition of Agency Restoration before the HYPE label audit of CEO Min Hee Jin.
What is happening between ADOR and NewJeans?
NewJeans had reportedly declared that their "trust" with ADOR was "beyond repair." According to Korean media outlets, as the tension between the two continues to escalate, a mediation session has been scheduled for August 14, 2025. Currently, no official indication has been provided about the nature of the contract with Ador and whether the members will work readily with the agency.
Per news outlets, the legal representatives of the Korean pop group are reportedly willing to come back on one "non-negotiable condition." They noted (roughly translated),
“It’s not that [the members] absolutely refuse to return to ADOR. If ADOR can be returned to how it was before the audit in April 2024, [they] would be willing to go back. But if that’s not possible, then we hope they will let [the members] go by terminating the contract.”
NewJeans' members have repeatedly expressed their support for CEO Min Hee Jin and have emphasized that they have had to experience an "unstable environment" since the latter's departure.
Meanwhile, Ador has reportedly refuted NewJeans' claims and attributed the latter's success to the former's efforts and initiatives.
Ador reportedly brought new evidence to the court, which was refuted by New Jeans' representatives. While the agency continues to emphasize the exclusivity of the contract, the members of the K-pop group have repeatedly clarified their stance.
