New Zealand is pitching itself as the perfect backdrop for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's impending nuptials.
The New Zealand tourism board posted an idea on its Instagram this week,
"✍️ This is our official petition for Pop’s next Royal Wedding to be hosted right here in Aotearoa New Zealand. "We think the Swifties would agree, it’s the perfect backdrop for a star-studded 'I do.' Are you ready for it?"
Aotearoa is the Māori word for the country, and the post itself showcased the mountain landscape of Fiordland, a Wānaka vineyard, and a chapel at Ohaupō TreeChurch. It also featured the serene waters of Lake Erskine and Dublin Bay, as well as some photos of couples who opted for these locations for their own nuptials.
"A huge congratulations to @taylorswift @killatrav, catch the bouquet '💐' in the comments to manifest your dream wedding down under," the caption concluded.
Per The Independent, Prime Minister Christopher Luxon joined the discourse, leaving a comment that read:
“there would be no better place in the world than to have the wedding here in New Zealand or even your honeymoon”.
Here's everything we know about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's romance
As reported by The Independent, Taylor Swift announced her engagement on Instagram on Tuesday, August 26. She shared some photos of the moment the Kansas City Chiefs' tight end asked her to marry him, which garnered a staggering 1.5 million likes within 10 minutes of her uploading it.
"Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married 🧨," Taylor Swift wrote in the caption.
She set the song to her So High School track, which, according to People Magazine, has long been speculated to be about Travis Kelce. The pair have been dating since 2023, and since then, have made regular appearances at concerts and each other’s events.
During her recent appearance on Travis and Jason Kelce's New Heights podcast, Taylor Swift said:
"I was like, 'If this guy's not crazy, this is sort of what I've been writing songs about wanting to happen to me since I was a teenager.'"
The Independent has reported that the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation also took to X to commemorate the engagement:
“Are you suddenly looking for a place to get married? Welcome to New York, it's been waiting for you,” it asked on X, referencing one of Taylor Swift's songs on her 2014 album 1989.
