Lil Wayne has dropped Tha Carter VI after years, marking a big moment in his impressive career. The album came out on June 6, 2025, ending a five-year hiatus since his last solo studio release, and adding another chapter in one of hip-hop's most legendary album series.

This release lands seven years after Tha Carter V. Its arrival followed a gradual buildup, which included mysterious hints, glimpses from studio sessions, and a 2023 mixtape prequel titled Tha Fix Before Tha VI. Earlier this year, Wayne confirmed the album's release during the 2025 College Football Playoff National Championship where he shared its release window.

Lil Wayne packs Tha Carter VI with 19 tracks that showcase his sharp lyrics alongside bold beats and a variety of team-ups. Fans had hoped to see Drake and Nicki Minaj on the album to bring a Young Money reunion, but neither makes an appearance, according to XXL Mag. Even without them, the album still feels like a strong collaboration.

On August 6, 2022, Lil Wayne had joined Drake and Nicki Minaj for a Young Money Reunion Concert in Toronto, where he had teased fans by saying,

"I'm working on Carter VI, coming soon."
