Rhymefest's claims that Eminem used the N-word against him have been disproven, and now an apology may be in order.
Rhymefest recently accused the 15-time Grammy winner of being the first person to use the N-word against him during their 1998 battle at Scribble Jam in Cincinnati, Ohio. He also noted that the only time a White person can use it is if it's for a joke, though otherwise, it's offensive.
However, AllHipHop recently uploaded the entire rap battle between the two online, prompting netizens to take Slim Shady's side. Droves flocked to the comments section to point out that the rapper, whose real name is Marshall Mathers III, did not use the offensive term.
"I got so many ways to diss you that I'm playful with you," he raps in the clip. "I'll let a razor split you till they have to staple stitch you, and everybody in this f*cking place will miss you if you turn my facial tissue into a f*cking racial issue."
Eminem and Rhymefest's rap battle beef explored as the public awaits the former's apology for spewing false claims:
During his latest appearance on the It’s Just My Opinion podcast, Rhymefest said:
“I battled Eminem in ’98 at this competition called Scribble Jam in Cincinnati. It was the biggest battle in the Midwest and one of the biggest rap battles in the country. And a lot of famous rappers, DJs and breakdancers came out of Scribble Jam.”
He added,
“I battled Eminem and that was the first time a white guy ever called me a n-gga. I realized something about racism that day – it’s why Family Guy works.”
He also explained how the encounter played out for him:
“It’s only good when it’s funny. It only is non-offensive when it’s dope. Had you said that sh*t and it not been dope, it would’ve been a problem. But you so cold and courageous that you did it and got away with it. “I had to dig deep and be like, it can’t just be you’re a white guy rapping,” he said. “You gotta dig deep and be like, what is it about the person? But when I say I won that battle… he won the war!”
At the time of writing, Rhymefest has yet to retract his statements or comment on the developments, while Eminem, on the other hand, did not respond to the initial claims either.
