Sean “Diddy” Combs’ trial resumed with its third week of testimony in the New York City court on Tuesday, May 27, 2025.
As the legal proceedings are underway, the controversial rapper and record executive is reportedly heartbroken for a different reason. Sean John’s CEO and President, who is in NYC for the trial, missed attending the high school graduation of his twin daughters, Jessie and D’Lila Combs.
A source close to the hip-hop mogul told Page Six ahead of the trial resumption,
“He [Sean Combs] was heartbroken not to be there for such a monumental moment in the twins’ lives — graduation and prom. It meant everything to him.”
According to the insider, Combs has repeatedly stated that he is “fighting for his life.” Per Page Six, Diddy “wants to get back to his family.” The New York Post’s gossip column reported that the Bad Boy Records founder gave his relatives special instructions prior to the high school graduation of the twins.
Jessie and D’Lila Combs, born in 2006, are the daughters of Diddy and his former partner, the late Kim Porter. The model and actress, who was also the mother of Sean’s son Christian Combs, passed away in 2018 in her sleep due to pneumonia. With Combs not being able to attend Jessie and D’Lila’s graduation, a source told Page Six,
“He specifically asked the family to focus on the girls and to stay out of court so they could be together and fully present for them; especially since Kim [Porter] was not present.”
The Combs twins celebrated their graduation last week while Diddy was in NYC for his sex trafficking trial
D’Lila and Jessie were at Sierra Canyon School in Chatsworth, California, for their high school graduation. The Combs twins shared videos and pictures from the ceremony and celebrations via Instagram Stories. The sisters also uploaded a dedicated post on their joint account, featuring multiple pictures with their relatives and friends, and wrote,
“WE GRADUATEDDDD🎓🥳🍾”
The pair wore matching blue caps, gowns, and white heels to the ceremony and accepted their diplomas from a school administrator, per Page Six. The gossip column also reported that the twins’ entire family was at Sierra Canyon School to witness their graduation. Congratulatory messages poured into the comment section as soon as the Combs sisters posted about the milestone.
Diddy, who wasn’t able to attend the event, reportedly still has the support of his children. A source told Page Six,
“They are trying to stay as strong as they can and united for their dad.”
Following Kim Porter’s death, Sean Combs was the primary caregiver of his twin daughters. Last year in September, Essence Magazine confirmed that Porter’s best friend, Lawanda “Lala” Lane, took over the role of caretaker amidst Diddy’s legal troubles.
