Everything we know about KATSEYE's Gnarly so far:

Gnarly marks the band's first single since their chart-breaking hit debuted and peaked at No. 13 on the Billboard Philippines Hot 100. The song came as part of their debut EP SIS (Soft Is Strong), which also included famous songs like Debut and My Way.

Billboard Philippines has described the track as one that,

"takes it up a notch from the bubblegum pop the group had previously come out with, as "Gnarly"

The publication added:

"it is a blaring experimental pop anthem that exudes the confidence the group radiates as they step into their new skin."

The global girl group KATSEYE was formed through The Debut: Dream Academy, which is a survival show created by HYBE and Geffen Records. The entire process took two years and was later turned into a Netflix documentary. Shortly after the group was formed, they made their debut in the summer of 2024 with their track Debut and breakout single Touch.

According to J-14, the girls have seen massive success since then, with HYBE CEO Lee Jae-sung saying:

“The group has received so much attention and affection from listeners and music critics worldwide. The success of KATSEYE demonstrate[s] that the K-pop system can work in the U.S.”

He also noted that KATSEYE “had the best year in 2024 with their debut album SIS,” confirming that Touch spent two weeks on Billboard’s Bubbling Under Hot 100 and clocked in with 13 weeks on the Global Song Chart.
