Doechii's Alligator Bites Never Heal achieved another milestone recently when it joined the company of a select few albums to surpass 1 billion streams on Spotify. The 19-song album was released in August 2024 and marked a turning point in Doechii's career, as the album has broken records like nobody's business ever since its release.

The album has consistently remained near the top of Billboard and Spotify charts for months now, and helped the Yucky Blucky Fruitcake-famed star to attain greater heights, culminating in the rapper winning the Best Rap Album award at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards. During her acceptance speech at the ceremony, a visibly emotional Doechii said:

"I put my heart and my soul into this mixtape. I bared my life. I went through so much. I dedicated myself to sobriety, and God told me that I would be rewarded, and that he would show me just how good it could get."

Her latest achievement gathering more than 1 billion streams on Spotify in less than a year only highlights the intrigue surrounding the album. The news was met with a great reception on social media as well, as fans praised Doechii for ticking one more milestone off her list, while questioning others for doubting her:

"Deserved lowk. people don’t like doechii for no reason", commented one fan (via X).
"She deserved I don't now how every person hates this talent girl", remarked another (via X).
"I do think she’s got some of these numbers from bots this but her hate is so forced music is subjective", added another fan(via X).

It was at this point that the skeptics joined the conversation, and they shared their opinions on X:

"They added 250m streams by putting anxiety on the mixtape this isnt even a real stat", one fan chimed in (via X).
"Serious question, how many of these streams were botted?", questioned another (via X).
"Payola and bots. a plant has never been so noticable", interjected yet another fan (via X).

The inspiration behind Doechii's Alligator Bites Never Heal

In the wake of the success of her album, Doechii was interviewed by Variety, where she touched upon several topics, including the inspiration for the album:

"It just shows how conceptual the music really was. And for such a conceptual project to be a mixtape makes me very affirmed — that my ideas are great, and that people resonate with the music. It’s scary, and it’s very vulnerable, but I have to do it, because I’m an artist."

She then went on to add:

"I woke up one day and told my label, ‘I’m just going to make a mixtape.’ I was able to birth this out of pure presence and creativity, and I think I want to carry that with all of my projects and have that mentality moving forward."

With the continued success of her album, Doechii has catapulted herself into the limelight and fans can look forward to her producing more such engaging music in the coming future.
