Kendrick Lamar's diss track Not Like Us has scaled another height, becoming the most-streamed rap song ever in a single year on Spotify. The song was released on May 4, 2024, during the pomp of Lamar's rivalry with Drake.

Not Like Us has been on a record-breaking run since its release and has now taken over the mantle of being the most-streamed rap song in a year from Lil Nas X and Jack Harlow's Industry Baby.

The song has reached a staggering 1.44 billion streams on Spotify within the last twelve months and is only one in a long list of accomplishments for the artist. The record for the most-streamed song, all genres included, still belongs to Weeknd's Blinding Lights, which is incidentally also the most-streamed song on Spotify to date, with a scarcely-believable 4.82 billion streams from the date of its release in 2020.

The news about Kendrick Lamar's new record was met with varying reactions on social media, with fans clearly torn between Kendrick Lamar and Drake. There were a lot of fans who were very happy to see Lamar at the top of the list, as they claimed ascendancy in the artists' feud with Drake:

"Damn, K-Dot’s on another level. I’m just over here tryna hit 1 K on SoundCloud—mad respect for the grind. People don't realize how much work that takes", commented one fan.
"Will likely hold that record for a LONG time too!", predicted another.
"Kendrick really told this man “ stop playing with me before i turn you into a song” Then turned that man into the biggest rap song/diss ever recorded. Drakes only way of coping was to fool his fans into believing “bots” and “UMG” had something to do with this", remarked another fan.
"Now mfs hating on it just cause it got big popular and overplayed but when the song came out yall were dancing and s**t. hypocrite a**es go cry and glaze lawbrey somewhere else at the end of the day kendrick still successful", claimed a fourth fan.

The skeptics, on the other hand, played spoilsport as they rained on Kendrick Lamar's parade:

"No one thinks this is a rap song", suggested one fan.
"If UMG can bot their way to a number 1 all time hit why wouldn't they choose to bot for their golden goose that they just gave 400 M's to? Y'all not making no sense.", questioned another.
"Why is Drake at the center of almost everything that has happen in hiphop in the last 10-15 years", interjected another fan.
"Clearly bc of the boy" y'all mans couldn't even crack top 5 before Drake promo and kenny was coming off his highest grossing tour too smh", wrote yet another fan.

Kendrick Lamar's Not Like Us was a watershed moment for the artist and the rap industry as a whole as well. The song was catapulted into mainstream, and pretty soon everybody was singing along to the track, be it at live shows, parties, discos, or even Super Bowls!

The tremors of Not Like Us are still felt to this day, as the song has landed Kendrick Lamar in a spot of bother with the legal issues and accusations being leveled against him.

While they are yet to be proven, the Kendrick Lamar vs Drake rivalry has seeped into the mainstream culture and is yet to slow down. The coming years will tell how the song will be looked at by future generations.
