Kid Cudi has temporarily bid adieu to his music career by leaving fans with one last track.

The singer dropped a track called “Once” on his SoundCloud on Sunday, September 28, which he explained was a letter to his fans, per Billboard. He also shared a video on X, where he cleared the air on his expected hiatus, noting that it will be a “pretty lengthy break” before he drops his next project.

“This is a goodbye for now song,” he wrote on SoundCloud. “It was produced by myself with my homie Sebastian addin’ extra sauce here and there. Taking a break but wanted to leave u [with] something special and from the heart. [You’ll] be hearing me featured on my friends’ albums but as far as me, I gotta step into the shadows and focus on my other dreams.”

He concluded,

"Ima miss yall. But hopefully this song fills u up w joy and motivates u to keep going. Love yall -Scott."

Kid Cudi's latest business ventures explored after artist announces a hiatus from music:

In his post on X, Kid Cudi wrote to his followers:

“It’s gonna be a while between now and the next Kid Cudi album. So I wanted to leave you with a little something that could motivate you, uplift you… I made it earlier this year, just f—ing around in the studio.”

In another post, Kid Cudi said:

"The thing about me is theres so many other realms I can exist in. Some cats just have one thing, where I float between crafts effortlessly. U might not get an album from me, but ull get my expression through art in other ways. Trust me. I am a huge ball of creativity. This is what I was born to be. An artist. A real one. Oh the many places we can go."

The artist has been busy with other ventures; his production company, Mad Solar, reportedly released a short film on September 19 to accompany his Free track. Titled Mr. Miracle, it co-stars LaKeith Stanfield, Stephen Midgett, and more.

Just earlier this month, he echoed his claims that he would be taking “a step back” from releasing albums so that he could focus on other artistic pursuits. When a fan asked him about the release of his next solo album, he said:

"I think ima officially take a step back for awhile from droppin albums and focus on directing, more acting, painting and fashion for sure. Its gonna be awhile til yall hear another album from me, but I promise when I do come again, it wont be boring."

As reported by Deadline, Cudi's animated feature, Slime, which features the voices of Willow Smith, Teyana Taylor, and more, is forthcoming. He will also be debuting a documentary about his painting, although further details, such as its name and release date, remain unclear. However, the artist confirmed that production is set to kick off this week, according to Complex.
