Green Day is living its best rockstar life. The punk rock trio — Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tré Cool — is in celebration mode after scoring their very own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

In their conversation with People, the band reflected on their Walk of Fame milestone, which took place just a day earlier. Frontman Armstrong added that the whole experience felt “like a fever dream.”

“I never expected in a million years that we’d ever have a star like that. It’s still sinking in.”

And in classic rockstar fashion, bassist Mike Dirnt needed some time to process the moment — horizontally.

“After the ceremony, I went and took a two-hour nap. I was so overwhelmed. It was very emotional to some degree, and it’s great for the fans. They can all come here and see something that validates their love for Green Day.”

Green Day’s shiny new star, number 2,810, now lives at 6212 Hollywood Boulevard, right next to the iconic Amoeba Hollywood.

The ceremony brought out some major names too, including Ryan Reynolds, Flavor Flav, and longtime friend/music producer Rob Cavallo, with Matt Pinfield serving as emcee.

Billie Joe Armstrong gives update on American Idiot movie: “Eventually it’s going to happen”

Before Green Day’s Hollywood Walk of Fame, Billie Joe Armstrong offered an update on the long-discussed American Idiot movie.

“There was supposed to be [a film], but it never panned out. I’m sure something is gonna happen. The musical did so well and they’ve done it in Australia, Italy, Germany, England.”

He went on:

“It’s traveled so well. Eventually it’s going to happen, I would think.”

Rumors of a potential American Idiot film adaptation have been going around since the early 2000s. The speculations reached high momentum in 2011 after it was reported that legendary actor Tom Hanks would produce the project, alongside playwright Rolin Jones, who was polishing up the script at the time.

By 2016, HBO gave the film a green light, with Armstrong set to reprise his role as St. Jimmy.

However, the project hit another snag in 2020, with the frontman saying that it had been “pretty much scrapped.”
