Halsey, the American singer and actor, posted an Instagram update detailing her health experience. The artist shared several images on Sunday, June 22, including a selfie that featured a chest port, a medical device that supports long-term care. In her post, the American singer-songwriter and actress wrote,
“Evidence that I still exist when the show ends. 90s mom haircut loading.”
The post featured six pictures. The first photo showed her standing in front of a hospital bathroom mirror wearing a white tank top and showing the port on her chest. The rest of the pictures gave a peek into moments from her tour and spending time with family.
The photo collection showed a close-up of the artist smiling without wearing makeup. Another picture featured her spending time with her three-year-old son, Ender Ridley Aydin. It also included behind-the-scenes shots of her getting her hair and makeup done. One of the slides seemed to capture her fiancé, Avan Jogia, with a casual shot of his feet while they lounged together watching TV.
The singer has been candid about her health challenges since the beginning of her career.
Halsey opens up about managing chronic illness amid ongoing tour
Halsey, who uses she/they pronouns, has talked about her health struggles. In June 2024, the artist shared that she was diagnosed back in 2022 with two conditions—Systemic Lupus Erythematosus and a rare T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder. Thankfully, both conditions are now either well-managed or in remission.
Halsey spoke about her diagnosis in an earlier update, saying,
“After a rocky start, I slowly got everything under control with the help of amazing doctors. After 2 years, I’m feeling better and I’m more grateful than ever to have music to turn to.”
SLE is a disease where the immune system targets healthy tissues. This attack leads to swelling and damages various body parts like joints, skin, and internal organs. Lymphoproliferative disorders, on the other hand, involve unusual growth of white blood cells called lymphocytes. Conditions like leukemia and lymphoma fall under this group.
In September 2024, Halsey revealed through social media that she had a seizure and needed to be hospitalized. Later, she updated her followers, letting them know she was back home and focused on getting better.
The singer is now on her For My Last Trick tour while managing her treatments. By staying open with fans, she has shown what it’s like to balance health challenges with a busy career.
Halsey, known for her distinct voice and mix of musical styles, has won several awards. These include three Billboard Music Awards and one American Music Award. In 2020, Time magazine included her in its list of the 100 most influential people.
