Drake is paying his respects to the late Ozzy Osbourne.

The legendary heavy metal singer has left a wave of sadness in the wake of his demise, and Drake is one of several celebrities to commemorate his life. The lead singer of Black Sabbath died on July 22 at the age of 76, his family confirmed in a statement. His cause of death was unclear, though he had been publicly struggling with Parkinson's disease since 2019.

In a now-deleted post on Instagram, as reported by Bars, Drake shared his condolences for the loss of talent as he recounted a memory he shared with Ozzy:

"Drank with the NY Times last night for Ozzy [dove emoji]," he penned.

He also shared a photo of himself at the famed Black Sabbath Bridge, located in Birmingham. It was opened in 2019 in honor of its namesake band. Speaking with The New York Times, Drake said of his visit:

"I just came out to pay respects to someone who lived it to the fullest." He also labeled Ozzy Osbourne a "cultural touchstone."

Ozzy Osbourne's "devotion" to his wife and family explored:

Ozzy Osbourne's family said in a statement confirming his demise:

“It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love.”

Osbourne is also reportedly set to be honored at the forthcoming MTV Video Music Awards scheduled for September 7, where his remarkable decades-long career will be commemorated. Not only was he known for his music, but also for his impact on reality television, as he starred alongside his family on The Osbournes.

Van Toffler, a pivotal figure in the success of reality television, spoke to Variety recently about the importance of crafting a tribute that aptly honors Ozzy Osbourne's career:

"I have no doubt we will spend the next month figuring out the proper tribute and send-off to Ozzy on the Video Music Awards," he said.

As reported by The Mirror, however, days before his demise, the singer told his friends that the sole focus of his life “was dedicated to being with the family and grandchildren."

Per the outlet, the late singer was close to his daughter, Kelly's daughter, Sidney. She was born in November 2022, and at the age of 2, she reportedly showed signs of her grandfather's musical prowess.

Ozzy Osbourne "could not stop beaming as he spoke about Sidney and how he doted on the kid," one insider told the outlet. “Ozzy just loved boasting about Sidney’s talent and voice. There was a real bond between them when he had him on his lap fooling around and laughing. You could see at that moment, he was still Ozzy, but actually the smitten grandpa, whose child was his star. Ozzy had told many of the people there that Sidney would be the next generation of musician flying the flag for the family."

They went on,

“They sang together at home. He said that being with family and being a grandfather was now his main focus in life. He loved all of his grandkids so so much. His loss will be hard for them.”

However, Ozzy Osbourne was reportedly just as committed to his second wife, Sharon Osbourne. Hollywood cinematographer Cameron Glendenning, a former colleague, spoke with The New York Post about their union, revealing that he had “total devotion” for his family, despite his philandering.

“Sharon and Ozzy have a storied history of their marriage. And it’s all the stuff of legend,” he told the outlet. “What I witnessed; it was just nothing short of devotion.” Nonetheless, “They were just totally in love and devoted to each other, and that wasn’t for the cameras. That was just who they were,” Glendenning said. “They loved him so much. They all just absolutely adored him,” he reminisced about Osbourne’s youngest kids, Kelly and Jack, who starred on the reality show with their parents."

Glendenning went on,

“He earned it with them because he showed them a lot of love and adoration in return. he absolute love and devotion that every one of them has for Ozzy, I think no matter how strong we all are, today’s gotta be pretty hard,” he explained about how the family is likely coping with Osbourne’s death.
