Justin Bieber set to make his debut as headliner for Coachella next year: Here's what we know

Per BBC, alongside Justin Bieber, Sabrina Carpenter, and Karol G were announced as the headliners of the forthcoming music festival. This makes it the official debut at the festival for all three of them. The Canadian singer took to his Instagram to mark the occasion:

“Member used to drive a Yukon,” he wrote, referencing a line from his “Yukon” track off his seventh studio album, Swag.

Teddy Swims, Katseye, Central Cee, and CMAT are also scheduled to perform at the festival, which is held annually at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California. The BBC has also reported that it rakes in about 250,000 fans on average since its inception in 2002.

The Espresso songstress will open the festival on Friday, April 10, while Justin Bieber will take to the stage the following day. Karol G will perform on Sunday. Several UK artists will also perform, including Disclosure, Wet Leg, Lambrini Girls, Little Simz, and FKA Twigs.

As for Justin Bieber, he has performed at the music festival in the past, as a guest. Back in 2014, he joined Chance the Rapper on stage as they performed their hit song Confident. In 2019, he joined Ariana Grande, who was headlining the performance at the time, for a surprise show.

“I wore this fly outfit not knowing that I was going to be on stage. This is my first time on stage in like two years. So I had to get my swag back on,” he said at the time, per Billboard.

The performance marked his first appearance on stage in two years. However, his most recent performance at Coachella came just last year, when he joined forces with the Nigerian singer-songwriter and producer Tems for a live performance of their hit song “Essence.”

In other news, Justin Bieber debuted his seventh studio album, SWAG, in July. It spans 21 tracks. In September, he followed it up with a surprise sequel with 23 new songs and features from Tems and Lil B, among others.
