During Katy Perry's "Lifetimes Tour" stop in Detroit on August 3, 2025, a young fan collapsed onstage mid-performance.
The moment was supposed to be a playful fan interaction. However, the pop star paused her set to ensure the fan received medical attention and necessary support.
The incident occurred during Katy Perry's interactive segment, where she brought fans from the crowd on stage to perform her 2011 track, "The One That Got Away." This tradition has become a beloved feature of her tour. On Sunday night, one such fan, a young girl named McKenna, was chosen by the singer. Katy spotted her in a sequined skirt from the top level of Detroit's Little Caesars Arena.
McKenna and her friend walked down to the floor. They were then greeted by Katy Perry. She hugged both girls in front of the crowd. However, just as Perry was handing out shakers to the group to begin the performance, McKenna fainted.
What did Katy Perry say after her fan fainted onstage?
Perry dropped to her knees to attend to McKenna. The fan was immediately helped by venue medics and members of the singer's team. The audience began chanting McKenna's name in support. Notably, Katy Perry remained beside her until she was stretchered off the stage.
The singer then pulled the remaining three young fans into a group hug and said a prayer:
"Dear God, we pray for McKenna, that she will come back fully and brighter and better than ever. Amen. It's so much. Sometimes you are so brave and you can get on stage, and it's overwhelming. I understand that feeling."
Perry continued the show. She performed "The One That Got Away" as planned. Later in the night, she shared an update:
"McKenna's doing great, by the way!"
Katy Perry repeated McKenna's name in a shout-out at the end of her "Roar" performance.
