Ashlee Simpson has credited her daughter with nudging her to do the Las Vegas residency.
The singer went on a hiatus from music 17 years ago, when she dropped her last album, Bittersweet World. Per People Magazine, she did so to focus on raising her family at the time. Simpson Ross shares two kids with her husband, Evan Ross, 37: daughter Jagger, 10, and son Ziggy, 4. She also shares a son, Bronx, 16, with her ex, Pete Wentz.
She has since resumed her career with her I Am Me residency, which was named after her 2005 album. Per the outlet, the show will run until September 27 at the Venetian Resort’s Voltaire nightclub in Las Vegas. In a new conversation with the outlet, she said that her daughter played a role in pushing her back into music:
"She's definitely influenced me to get up here and go again. We dance together, we get free, we let our bodies go. We do our little modern dances. We sing together. So I'm definitely looking forward to making her proud."

In her conversation with the magazine, Ashlee Simpson gushed over her daughter, who's "always listening to 'L.O.V.E.' and stuff with her friends," she said.
"The fact that my daughter and her friends are revisiting this music, I'm like, 'Oh my gosh, what a moment.' She actually just came to my rehearsal the other day, and she was like, 'Mom, you sound so good.' For me, that's everything."
While she may be making a "comeback" to music, she isn't deep in the throes of it just yet:
"I am still dropping everyone at school and organizing the schedules of all my kids in between rehearsal," she says. "But it definitely is a comeback in a sense of coming back to myself, coming back to something I love to do, something I'm passionate about, and something I've truly missed in my life."
She continued:
"I miss performing. I miss music. And I also want to share that with my kids like, 'This is also a part of Mommy.' I'm not just an Uber mommy driver."
Ashlee Simpson marked the 11th anniversary of her marriage to Evan Ross during one of her shows this week, and the latter was there to cheer her on. At one point, she stole a kiss from him mid-set. The pair reportedly met at a friend's birthday party and tied the knot in July 2013.
"Love u happy anniversary baby! Love watching you," Evan Ross penned on Instagram, paired with a video of Ashlee Simpson singing before she runs up to her husband for a peck.
