Kendrick Lamar is leading at the Grammys this year with the most nominations out of any artist. The Not Like Us hitmaker boasts 9 Grammy nominations at the 68th annual Grammy Awards, despite not releasing a single track this year. The Recording Academy announced its nominations on a livestream this Friday, November 7, where it was confirmed that the rapper-songwriter will be heading into this year's ceremony with various nominations. Kendrick Lamar, who now boasts 66 nominations in total, is now up for awards in the major categories of record, song, and album of the year. A bulk of his nominations are reportedly for his record-shattering album GNX and the single "Luther (feat. SZA)." Both projects dominated several Billboard charts. At the time, he won record of the year and song of the year for his infamous diss track Not Like Us. His and SZA's track Luther has been nominated for Best Melodic Rap Performance and Song of the Year. The latter boasts five Grammys of her own, though she has never been nominated in any of the big four categories, which include Song and Record of the Year. Her's and Kendrick Lamar's hit track “All the Stars," recorded for the film Black Panther, was previously nominated for two categories in 2019, though it did not win any awards. Nonetheless, Luther famously spent 13 weeks dominating the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart this year. SZA and Kendrick Lamar have also nabbed a nod in the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance category for their track “30 for 30," while SZA has been nominated for “Crybaby” in Best Traditional R&B Performance. Following Kendrick Lamar's nine nominations, Lady Gaga comes in at second-most with seven. Her track “Abracadabra” has also been nominated in the Song and Record of the Year categories. Bad Bunny and Sabrina Carpenter are also leading contenders, with six nominations each.
