On April 29, 2025, one of Katy Perry’s fan accounts on Instagram, @katyperrybrasil, posted a video with a message for the singer displayed at Times Square. The message, which will reportedly be shown for a week, reads:
"Congratulations on the opening week of the tour. We are so proud of you and your magical journey. And we love you to the moon and back! Know that you are safe, seen and celebrated. We'll see you around the world, this is just the beginning!"
The words were from the “worldwide cats.” Meanwhile, the singer left a comment below the Instagram post expressing her gratitude for the love she received. As per reports, her lengthy comment was a response to the criticism she had faced recently. Katy Perry wrote:
"Please know I am ok, I have done a lot work around knowing who I am, what is real and what is important to me. My therapist said something years ago that has been a game changer, “no one can make you believe something about yourself that you don’t already believe about yourself” and if I ever do have any feelings about it then it’s an opportunity to investigate the feeling underneath it."
The singer shared her appreciation for her fans, saying she felt thankful to be on this exciting journey with them. Katy Perry believed their strong connection allowed her to stay true to herself and be open and honest.
She also said she had grown alongside them and was looking forward to seeing them.
Katy Perry on not being perfect and upholding resilience
In her comment, Katy Perry said that when people online targeted her with negativity, she tried to respond calmly and with kindness, understanding that many were going through personal struggles and often used the internet to vent.
For her, what truly mattered was the connection she felt during live shows like seeing her fans, hearing them sing along, reading their messages, and sharing meaningful moments. She believed those experiences helped both her and her fans heal in small but powerful ways. The songstress wrote:
"I’m not perfect, and I actually have omitted that word from my vocabulary, I’m on a human journey playing the game of life with an audience of many and sometimes I fall but… I get back up and go on and continue to play the game and somehow through my battered and bruised adventure I keep looking to the light and in that light a new level UNLOCKS."
According to Billboard, Katy Perry kicked off her Lifetimes tour in Mexico on April 23, including a special moment in each show by inviting fans onstage. She was scheduled to bring the tour to the U.S. the following week, with a headlining show planned in Houston, Texas, on May 7, 2025.
Katy Perry recently announced through her Instagram stories that her shows on May 1 and 2 in Guadalajara had to be canceled because the construction of Arena Guadalajara wasn’t finished in time.
She explained that her team had visited the venue the week before to see if anything could be done, but the arena wasn’t ready or safe for her performance or fans.
