Shortly after the long-running rock band welcomed Emily Armstrong as its latest member, they released their album, From Zero. According to Billboard, Up From the Bottom was penned while the band was on the road for its ongoing tour, while Let You Fade was written while the album was being recorded. It was completed after its release.

Speaking with Billboard executive director Jason Lipshutz, Emily Armstrong reflected on what it feels like to keep the ball rolling in terms of chart success with the band's first album since its revival:

“A day in the life,” she quipped.

Singer/guitarist Mike Shinoda joked that the songstress is already “super jaded” nowadays.

“She’s just so used to it,” he said. “She was so down to earth in the beginning.”

According to Brave Words, reflecting on From Zero, the band commented:

“‘Unshatter’ was an early track we made while recording From Zero; Emily’s huge vocal in the bridge was one of the moments that gave us an indication of what was possible together. We are so grateful for the incredible reception to From Zero. This new chapter, our continuing journey, and the connection between the band and fans has been more than we could’ve hoped for. Thank you for listening.”

At the time of writing, the band has yet to confirm if Let You Fade was written in their fallen lead vocalist's honor.
