With the countdown to Glastonbury Festival 2025 underway, rumours are swirling around a possible surprise set from Lorde.

The New Zealand songstress’s highly anticipated fourth album, Virgin, is due to drop on June 27, the same day as a mysterious 35-minute slot marked “TBA” on the festival’s Pyramid Stage lineup.

During her recent conversation with BBC Radio 2, Jo Whiley asked Lorde if she might be returning to Worthy Farm this year, following her Pyramid Stage headline in 2022 and a memorable Other Stage appearance in 2017. Lorde exclaimed:

“Wow! You know… I’m pretty keen, honestly. I feel like… ‘cause the album’s gonna be coming out right around that time…”

When Whiley noted that the timing would be perfect, Lorde went on:

“I am quite tempted by what’s going on because I’ve got lots of friends playing as well. We’ll see, we’ll see if I can pull some strings and get there.”

Reflecting on her previous Glastonbury performances, she described the 2022 Pyramid Stage show as “so cool and crazy,” and “absolutely unbelievable – enormous.”

“I was shooketh at the scale. So beautiful, so amazing.”

She also recalled the 2017 Other Stage slot, calling it “so amazing.”

“That was kind of [at] sunset and really moody. It’s just the best. It’s the best festival in the world.”

Lorde further hinted at a possible return, saying:

“I didn’t really party [when she played there before], so I would be able to… I’m keen to come and play. We’ll see. I’ve gotta talk to the powers that be.”

Meanwhile, the “Royals” hitmaker is gearing up for her UK, European, and North American “Ultrasound” tour later this year, which she recently described as possibly “our masterpiece.”

Last week, she unleashed the "Man Of The Year," a new single exploring gender identity, as part of the lead-up to Virgin.

Glastonbury 2025 mystery acts keep fans guessing

The festival’s Friday night secret set is scheduled from 16:55 to 17:30, but Lorde’s appearance remains unconfirmed.

Meanwhile, an intriguing name, “Patchwork,” appears on the Pyramid Stage bill for Saturday evening, sparking speculation about which act could fill the slot.

The likes of Pulp, Yungblud, Ed Sheeran, and Mumford & Sons are among the potential candidates.

Notably, Pulp’s potential return would mark the 30th anniversary of their iconic Glastonbury headline in 1995, supporting their new album More, which was dropped on June 6.

Adding to the mystery, keyboardist Candida Doyle offered a mysterious hint in another interview, according to Metro:

“I used to do patchwork when I was on tour, and I made a really nice bit of patchwork.”

Jarvis Cocker recently said the band would only return to Glastonbury—

“if it was a life-or-death situation.”

Meanwhile, in 2023, Foo Fighters surprised fans with a secret Pyramid Stage set under the alias The Churnups, demonstrating the festival’s tradition of mystery performances.

Beyond the Pyramid Stage, several “TBA” slots remain on the Woodsies stage and The Park, with HAIM tipped as a potential act for The Park.

The LA sisters are currently touring Europe for Primavera Sound and are set to release their new album I Quit on June 20, following a UK show at Dreamland Margate.
