No, BTS is not recording an unreleased Michael Jackson song for a tribute album. South Korean record label BigHit Music, under Hybe, took to X on August 5 to refute claims about the boy band's contribution to a Michael Jackson tribute album. In the statement, BigHit Music said,

"Hello, This is BIGHIT MUSIC. We would like to address recent media reports concerning BTS' alleged participation in a Michael Jackson tribute album. BTS has neither visited Grouse Lodge Studio in Ireland nor taken any part in any recording sessions at the location for the mentioned project. The group is not involved in the tribute album in any capacity."

The statement continued,

"We are continuing to take appropriate measures to prevent the spread of inaccurate information. We express our sincere gratitude to fans for continuously showing support for BTS. We remain fully committed to supporting the aritsts for their endeavors."

The rumors about the BTS x MJ tribute album collab surfaced on the internet and social media after The Irish Sun on August 3 reported that Jackson was involved in writing numerous songs in the summer of 2006. It was also stated that he was staying in a converted cow shed in Ireland with his family.

Grouse Lodge Studio owner Paddy Dinning had claimed that the band had already recorded one of the tracks and that BTS and others had participated in the tribute album featuring the songs that were never released during Michael Jackson's lifetime.

What did Grouse Lodge Studio say about BTS' collab with Michael Jackson?

Paddy Dunning, owner of the Grouse Lodge recording studio in County Westmeath, Ireland, while speaking to The Irish Sun, said that BTS had been working in their studio for a Michael Jackson tribute album.

"The sessions started last year and we have already had the Korean boy band BTS over with us in Grouse Lodge recording one of the songs. There's about ten more, written especially for Michael by the collaborators he worked with in Ireland - including producer Rodney Jerkins and rapper Nephew, who have signed up for the project."

On August 5, a post on X from @BuzzingPop also shared a direct statement from Michael Jackson's team. The team had responded to a fan inquiry, saying,

"Regarding this tribute album you are hearing about - any claims that the Estate authorized and / or supports this project are false."

Since Jackson died in 2009, his estate has been meticulous and particular about posthumous releases. According to Rolling Stone, the estate has a history of pushing back against unauthorized works, including a 2018 lawsuit against Disney over an ABC special that used Jackson's material without approval.
