Songwriter and actor Josh Groban is set to host the 2025 Jimmy Awards on June 23, 2025. This will be Groban’s second time hosting the award ceremony. Speaking to the hosts of Good Morning America about the award show, he said:
“What brings me back is that, you know, I did last year. I had always known about the Jimmy Awards. The Jimmy Awards are like the Tony Awards of High School Musical Theater. It’s near and dear to my heart. I was the kid that sang along to cast albums and auditions for all the High School shows and found my confidence doing these shows when I was a kid.”
Although Groban is not married, he has been in a relationship with English actress Natalie McQueen. However, not much is known about the couple’s personal lives.
They have been seen together previously at the Met Gala and Tony Awards in 2023. The same year, they went out for a vacation in Disneyland. Sharing photos on Instagram, Josh Groban wrote:
“Epic week with my love experiencing my first ever (!!!) trip to Disney World Florida! We rode rides and drank green beer and experienced a Disney Halloween in 92 degree September heat!! So fun!!”
Speaking to People Magazine in 2024, Josh Groban shared that strong communication and a shared sense of humor were key parts of his happy relationship with McQueen. He said they made each other laugh all the time and, above all, cared for and respected one another. He also said:
“And so I think we really had to make a point to time out with each other and say, check in. 'How are we doing? How are things feeling? How was your day?' And I think to be able to really talk about things like that and also just sense of humor so forth, we make each other laugh just absolutely constantly.”
Here’s what Josh Groban thinks about the Arts
During his conversation with GMA, Josh Groban shared that he felt fortunate to have been exposed to great art while growing up in Los Angeles and spending time in New York. He encouraged parents to give their children access to the arts if they notice even a small interest, without forcing it.
He said that when he was five, he wasn’t sure about his talent and didn’t feel confident in his abilities until he was 28, although he always had a passion for it. About the award ceremony, Josh Groban said:
“We didn’t have the Jimmy Awards when I was young. To be able to do watch the future stars of Broadway do their thing up there and to see the camaraderie and preparation they have, I had to come back for my soul in this crazy world.”
Josh Groban talked about how the arts helped him express himself when he felt lost or insecure. As a shy child who struggled to make friends and share his voice, it was the support of his teachers and involvement in the arts that helped him grow.
He credited that experience as a key reason for his success. Reflecting on programs like the Jimmy Awards, he said he was always impressed by the talent and felt certain he’d end up buying tickets to see those performers in the future.
