Shawn Mendes fans are squealing with glee right now as the pop crooner announces his plans to hit the road.
The Canadian singer-songwriter, 26, announced his On the Road Again Tour this Thursday, May 29. He revealed that it marks the 10-year anniversary of his debut album, Handwritten, and will see him traverse across Europe and North America.
"I feel like time away has allowed me to come back and recognize and remember how unbelievably special it is to get to play live shows," said Mendes in a statement, per People Magazine. "It’s an honor and I'm just beyond grateful that you guys keep showing up after 10 years with so much love."
Shawn Mendes surprises fans with a forthcoming tour, here's all we know so far:
The There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back singer, who performed in South America and Puerto Rico earlier this year, revealed that his tour kicks off this August 5, with his first show slated for Poland.
Ahead of the tour, Shawn Mendes will also make a pit stop at the Sunny Hill Festival in Kosovo on August 2. The festival was founded by fellow artist Dua Lipa and her father, and will see her performing too.
USA Today has reported that tickets for the event go on sale at 10 a.m. local time at shawnmendesofficial.com/live on June 5, with Spotify and several local venues offering presales.
Shawn Mendes is expected to perform all the hits from his music catalogue, including Stitches and Life of the Party. Fans can also expect opening acts from MARO and Lubiana in Europe, and Eddie Benjamin in North America.
"I came across MARO’s music a few years ago and she immediately became one of my favorite artists," he said. "To be honest, I’m pretty beside myself that she’ll be joining us." He went on, "same with @lubiana_k, she blows me away and just embodies everything as an artist i stand behind. & finally this unbelievably talented and humble human being & my brother @eddiebenjamin will be joining in north america." He concluded, "i’m completely in love with all 3 of these humans. so happy and grateful to have them."
Notably, before he hits the road for his own tour, Shawn Mendes is slated to play all over Europe from August 2 to August 31. The On the Road Again Tour comes on the heels of Mendes' latest album, Shawn, which dropped in November last year.
He also performed a string of concerts last fall, each at smaller venues. Good Morning America has reported that these were done for friends and family only, to promote the eponymous album.

Shawn Mendes previously canceled his 2022 Wonder Tour after having performed just seven shows. At the time, he announced on Instagram that he needed to focus on his mental health.
“This breaks my heart to have to say this, but unfortunately I’m going to have to postpone the next three weeks of shows," Mendes wrote. "I’ve been touring since I was 15 and to be honest it’s always been difficult to be on the road away from friends and family. After a few years off the road, I felt like I was ready to dive back in, but that decision was premature and unfortunately the toll of the road and the pressure has caught up to me.”
The singer also revealed that he made the decision to axe his remaining shows after having consulted mental health professionals and his team.
"I need to take some time to heal and take care of myself and my mental health, first and foremost," Shawn Mendes added. "As soon as there are more updates I promise I will let you know love you guys."
