Singer Britney Spears addressed the recent controversy surrounding her airplane ride. To go back to the beginning, on May 23, TMZ published an exclusive report claiming that the Princess of Pop created a difficult situation in the aircraft.

The media outlet cited sources saying that the singer indulged in drinking and even attempted to smoke. As per the report, the airport authorities met her after the plane reached the destination and gave a warning.

However, on May 24, 2025, the singer shared a lengthy Instagram post, addressing the viral situation. Along with a video in which she was seen holding a bottle in the aircraft, Britney Spears wrote:

“Me yesterday !!! It’s actually incredibly funny !!! Some planes I’ve been on you can’t smoke mostly but this one was different because the drink holders were on outside of seat !!! Confession it was my first time drinking VODKA!!!”

Britney Spears shared that she felt smart and clear-headed during the flight, joking about being impressed by what might have caused it. She mentioned craving a cigarette, and a friend lit one for her, leading her to believe it was allowed on the plane.

She apologized if she offended anyone and noted that she was seated in the back anyway. When officials approached her, she thought they were there to support her. The singer joked about feeling special since she had never been through an international airport before, while playfully wondering if she was famous.

Britney Spears thought the flight attendant disliked her

In the Instagram post, Britney Spears wrote that a flight attendant contacted authorities because she had smoked a cigarette on the plane. She felt embarrassed and believed the flight attendant didn’t like her since the time she boarded. The singer added:

“Nobody was on the plane for first 20 minutes and she wouldn’t let me get out of my seat I wanted to stand up !!! She acted so weird about making sure I sat down and it was weird !!! I didn’t like the way she put the seatbelt on me and invaded my space !!!”

As per reports, Britney Spears had a history of struggling with mental health issues. She was previously married to dancer and actor Kevin Federline. However, she filed for a divorce in 2006, which was finalized the next year, leading to Federline being granted sole custody of their kids.

According to The Los Angeles Times, she wrote at that time:

“Flailing those weeks without my children, I lost it, over and over again. I didn’t even really know how to take care of myself. Because of the divorce, I’d had to move out of the home I loved and was living in a random English-style cottage in Beverly Hills.”

Her statement continued:

“The paparazzi were circling extra-excitedly now, like sharks when there’s blood in the water. But if I couldn’t see my sons, I didn’t want to see anybody.”

In 2022, Britney Spears married model and actor Sam Asghari, but he filed for a divorce a year later. She also suffered a miscarriage in 2022. A year later, she published her memoir, The Woman in Me.
