Justin Bieber was on the brink of a financial crisis until a catalog deal saved him.

According to a new documentary, TMZ Investigates: What Happened to Justin Bieber by TMZ on Hulu, Justin Bieber was almost facing a "financial collapse" in 2022 after making around $500 million to $1 billion as the world's biggest pop star.
In recent years, the pop star tries his best to stay out of the public eye and controversies. However, it doesn't seem like he is going to have his way, as his financial status has been heavily speculated over through the years.
In January 2023, the singer sold his catalog to Blackstone-backed Hipgnosis Songs Capital for 200$ million to get him out of his fix. TMZ founder Harvey Levin stated:
"Justin’s side acknowledges that in 2022 he was on the verge of, and the words were, 'financial collapse. That’s why he had to sell his catalog."
It was reported back then that his catalog included his publishing and recorded catalog shares, along with his interest in copyrights related to publishing and more from his back catalog up to 2021. Scooter Braun, businessman and his now ex-manager, released a statement back then:
"For 15 years I have been grateful to witness this journey and today I am happy for all those involved. Justin’s greatness is just beginning." He retired from music management last year.
Bieber team denied reports about his financial distress, telling The Hollywood Reporter,
“Any source that is trying to sell you a story about alleged financial distress … either doesn’t understand the entertainment industry or, more likely, is trying to paint an unflattering portrait of Justin, which bears no resemblance to reality,”
The documentary would definitely not play well with the Sorry singer as he has often let his disdain for paparazzi's be known publicly. He has often gone viral for his altercations with tabloids, including his recent one where he himself posted a video of being swarmed by them and their cameras as he was making his way down a dimly lit pathway towards a black van, surrounded by his bodyguards. He captioned the post as
“This has to stop.”
As for his recent ventures, Justin Bieber has followed in his wife's footsteps and decided to launch his own phone case inspired by Hailey's Rhode phone cover alongside his upcoming brand SKYLRK, which has been in the works since 2023. However, instead of lip glosses and lip balms, the case can supposedly hold a joint instead.
