On September 17, South Korean media Naver reported that YG Entertainment approved that G-Dragon, Taeyang, and Daesung can use the name BIGBANG for their Coachella performance next year. As stated by Naver, YG Entertainment said:

“We approved the use of the BIGBANG group name after receiving requests from both Coachella organizers and the members.”

The latest announcement came just a day after Coachella officially unveiled its lineup for the next year. For those unaware, the group has been inactive for years amid the controversies involving the members, notably Seungri and T.O.P.

While the former announced retirement from the group in 2019 following the Burning Sun scandal, the latter departed from the group in 2023. Therefore, the five-member group now has only three idols who will perform at Coachella.

Fans of the boy band were thrilled to hear about YG’s decision. As a result, they overwhelmed the internet with their excitement for the group’s reunion at Coachella. One of them commented:

“Legends are Coming,,,”

One of their fans commented:

“as they should. bigbang is literally the reason why yg is still OPERATING”

Another fan expressed:

“It was going to be approved one way or the other. They are big and it's Coachella”

An admirer said that YG never bans its artists from using their names.

“Despite everything gotta appreciate that YG never bans its artists to still use their group names.”

Another admirer thanked YG for doing the bare minimum for the boy band.

“Thank you YG Entertainment for doing the bare minimum for your artists.”

One of their followers believed that the group’s return to Coachella would be a historical event.

“BIGBANG at Coachella… 20 years in the making. This isn’t a comeback, it’s a historical event.”
