Lola Young has officially announced the release of her upcoming single, Not Like That Anymore, set to drop this Friday. Taking to social media, the singer gave fans a sneak peek of what’s to come, sharing a video of herself dancing with a hula hoop while singing emotionally charged lyrics that hint at frustration and growth from past relationships. The teaser has already stirred excitement, promising a raw and honest track that showcases Lola’s signature vulnerability and strength.
The lyrics of Not Like That Anymore read as follows:
"And it goes on and on and on and on/ And now I'm locked out, got nowhere to go/ And my phone got stolen and my balance is low/ But If I look on the bright side/ At least I'm not f**king myself anymore, not anymore"
Lola Young's announcement for the new track came out of the blue and has created a stir amongst fans for its impending release. The singer had released her song One Thing last month, which is set to be a part of her upcoming album LY3. Whether Not Like This Anymore ends up becoming a part of the same album is not clear at this point.
What's next for Lola Young?
Lola Young has been on a roll in recent years and already has two studio albums to her name: My Mind Wanders and Sometimes Leaves Completely (2023) and This Wasn't Meant for You Anyway (2024). The latter ended up being a great success for her, as she shot to overnight fame with her track Messy.
Now, a third album, LY3, is reportedly set to be released, of which One Thing has already been announced to be a part of. The name of the album is seemingly named after Lola Young's initials. She recently took to social media to give fans a glimpse into what they can expect from the album:
"The new album is going to be a lot more about my personal struggle and less so about love. There’s some real bangers on there. I can’t say too much, but I can say that this feels like a step up.”
Apart from working on her upcoming album LY3, Lola Young will also be embarking on her first North American tour. The tour will kick off later this year and will see the artist touring major cities like Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Dallas, Chicago, Salt Lake City, Toronto, Seattle, and San Francisco, among others.
In the meantime, she is also set to release another track in the coming week. As we count down the days to next Friday’s release, the anticipation for Not Like That Anymore continues to build.
