Pop sensation Bebe Rexha took to X today to share a major milestone, 15 years since she earned her first songwriting credit on SHINee’s iconic hit Lucifer. It’s a throwback moment that shows just how far her journey has come.
Pop culture-based account Pop Base posted on the platform:
“15 years ago today, Bebe Rexha earned her first songwriting credit on SHINee's 'Lucifer.'”
A few hours later, Bebe Rexha quote-retweeted the post and wrote:
“My first songwriting credit was this song and at the time k pop music wasn’t as popular internationally as it is now. I think I wrote this when I was 17 or 18. It came out a while after I wrote it. [heart and teary-eyed emojis]”
This memory marks the beginning of her ascent, from behind-the-scenes songwriter to Grammy-nominated solo star. Since then, she's co-written chart-toppers, dropped viral collaborations like I’m Good (Blue), and released her self-titled 2023 album Bebe, blending dance-pop, disco, and R&B.
Meanwhile, Lucifer was released on July 19, 2010, as the lead single of SHINee's second album of the same name.
The song — which contributed heavily to the SM Entertainment boy group's artistic evolution — quickly became a commercial success after ranking high on Korean charts and selling more than one million downloads at the time.
The iconic K-pop track remains a fan favorite among stans and a staple in SHINee's concerts.
