Lil Baby's team has allegedly announced he will be retiring from music, and the internet is amused.
FearBuck reported on X that the rapper would be taking an indefinite hiatus from his chosen line of work. As of this writing, the news has yet to be confirmed. However, an Instagram account by the name "WolfPackGlobalMusic" broke the alleged news.
"Baby retiring from music this crazy," an Instagram Story from the account reads.
Fans have already begun reacting to the news, such as this one user who penned on X:
"oh no…anyways"
The comments didn't end there:
"Gang you literally can't retire from music," someone quipped.
"This sounds like cap to me. No way Lil Baby is retiring right now, he’s in his prime, selling out tours and still dropping hits. Feels more like a marketing stunt or his team trolling for attention. Until Baby himself says it, I’m not buying it," another chimed in.
"Nice publicity stunt I’ve seen this before," one more added.
"Boy hanging it up while he's still hot is smart," a fourth user remarked.
See how the rest of X is reacting:
"I don't wanna believe this, cos whyyyy. Put all beefs aside, Baby was one of the first rappers that made me fall in love with trap. Every line was relatable ..." one fan penned.
"He going to come back watch or probably a album tease he doing," someone else speculated.
"It’s time to be the business man he has always wanted to," another cheered on.
"It's all fake, just for engagement," one user alleged.
Users were visibly divided over the news, with many claiming this could all be a stunt for clout. Some even went so far as to claim that Lil Baby will be dropping new music soon.
What we know about Lil Baby's alleged decision to quit music as rapper axes his WHAM tour:
As reported by Hot New Hip Hop, Lil Baby has yet to address the speculations himself. In his last post on Instagram, he seemingly alluded to a release date for his next project, The Leaks.
"I Know I Know … Even Tho I Never Said Album Dropping On 15th, That’s My Bad ! 9-5-25 'The Leaks,'" the caption reads.
The project was reportedly expected to debut earlier this month, though the rapper never addressed the delay. It will reportedly feature guest appearances from G Herbo, LUCKI, Veeze, Rylo Rodriguez, Skooly, and Bino.
Lil Yachty, Playboi Carti, and Young Thug are also expected to make cameos. Per Hot New Hip Hop, the album will be produced by Wheezy, Murda Beatz, TM88, and BabyWave, among others.
In other news, the rapper did cancel his Australian WHAM tour, where he was due just this month. A statement on his official event page cites “unforeseen circumstances” as the reason. As of this writing, Lil Baby has yet to address the cancellation as well.
What was supposed to be the European leg of his show, slated for next week, has also been axed. Venues across the UK and other parts of Europe have also been cancelled due to the same reason.
