Rapper Trina said that in a letter from PETA, the animal rights organization said that the singer "can't perform" at SeaWorld. As per a VIBE article published on August 12, the singer got an "aggressive" letter from the animal rights organization advising her not to perform at SeaWorld.
While speaking to VIBE, Trina revealed that she was hesitant to perform at first,
"I was excited, but I was like, SeaWorld? How do you perform at SeaWorld? This is like a theme park with kids."
PETA advised her to take a stand against the animal water theme park in San Diego by making a:
"commitment to stay away from SeaWorld."
However, despite being vocal against animal abuse, the singer decided to perform anyway. In the letter, PETA said,
"We love you as an artist, we respect you, but you can't perform.:
The outlet also confirmed that months before her SeaWorld performance, the organization had reached out to the singer requesting that she cancel. Over the past few weeks, other artists such as Fat Joe, Bow Wow, Ying Yang Twins, and Soulja Boy have also performed at the theme park. However, it is unclear if the non-profit organization reached out to the other artists.
What has SeaWorld San Diego president Tyler Carter said about SeaWorld following Trina's performance
While talking to VIBE, Tyler Carter was asked to speak about the park's treatment of wildlife,
"I think the biggest thing we say is come check it out for yourself. Our core mission is education, conservation, and doing better for the planet. I think there's a lot that people may not fully understand. And so we always recomment checking out our website. We have a lot of information about what we do, and really, just come see it."
On August 9, the singer was dressed in a flowy, printed matching set and was joined by artist Nia Amber. Amber went on to perform her original music later in the event.
During the interlude, the singer played hit tracks from other artists such as GloRilla, Sexy Redd, and Atlanta upstarts Pluto and YKNiece's viral "WHIM WHAMIEE."
While talking about her performance at SeaWorld, the singer said that such shows give her "life" and she's always able to "hype up with the crowd." She also expressed her love for GloRilla and others, saying they "came and dominated the game."
