Even a misstep mid-performance can’t shake Shakira’s shine.

During her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran concert in Montreal on May 20, the global icon took a tumble just before launching into her hit “Whenever, Wherever.” As seen in fan-documented footage, Shakira lost her balance and fell on stage.

Her slip could’ve easily disrupted the moment, but in true Shakira fashion, she swiftly turned it into a smooth, almost choreographed recovery. She spun upright right in front of the mic like a pro.

Fans applaud Shakira's graceful recovery after a fall at her Montreal show

The tumble traveled fast, and fans took to social media to celebrate the songstress's poise.

On X (Twitter), user @Neftali_Marley praised the pop star, writing:

“She’s so real for this! Instead of being ashamed she decides to share it herself. Queen, if you ask me.”

Another netizen, @acrostico24, echoed:

“she handled it like the boss that she is”

@YJTarazona2006 chimed in with a red heart emoji:

“She fell like a princess and rose like a queen”

Meanwhile, @senan06105296 voiced their concern:

“A great example of resilience! I hope she didn't get injured. Such falls cause pains and injuries the next morning”

Shakira’s health scare led to cancellation of her Peru show

It’s not the first time the pop superstar has had to power through unexpected detours on this tour. Last February, she had to postpone one of her Peru shows after being hospitalized for a stomach issue.

“The doctors whose care I am currently under have communicated that I am not in good enough condition to perform this evening.”

She went on to explain:

“I am very sad that I will not be able to take the stage today. I've been looking forward to reuniting with my incredible fans here in Peru.”

Then, weeks later, more of her shows (in Colombia, Chile, and another in Peru) were rescheduled due to production issues. In a statement last March, she revealed:

“You all, who have accompanied me for thirty years, know more than anyone my professionalism and how much I strive to give you the best.”

She added:

“You can only imagine how painful it is for me as an artist after so much effort to come to a country I love and have to reprogram my show for circumstances out of my and my production team’s control.”

She further explained that her team had worked with a local production company that failed to meet their stage safety requirements, calling the setup “not stable enough to guarantee the safety of my band, dancers, fans, and me.”

Despite these setbacks, she has kept the tour going strong. Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran, which kicked off in Brazil in February, has since moved through South and Central America, Canada, and the U.S.

Shakira is slated to wrap up her tour in November. With rescheduled dates still to come, she is proving that the show must go on, and a mere fall won’t stop her.
