“She wants it but we don’t”: Internet divided as Selena Gomez says she wants to collaborate with Ariana Grande in recent interview

In a recent interview alongside Karol G for Complex, posted on YouTube on June 24, Selena Gomez revealed that she would like to collaborate with Ariana Grande. Both Karol and Selena pick cards to question each other, and when Karol G picks a card and asks Selena,

"Goat artist you've collaborated with? It's hard to choose."

The singer-actress revealed that it's hard to choose, and she doesn't want to "insult" anyone. Karol then switched the question and asked,

"Maybe you can choose one you haven't done"

To which Selena took Ariana's name and said that she loves her "aura." After Selena's Complex interview went viral on the internet, netizens took to commenting on Pop Base's X post to share their opinions on a potential collaboration between the two women. While some seemed excited to see it happen, others revealed they'd rather not see it.

"She’s so obsessed with ariana, ari needs to get a restraining order" - a user said
"yes please, this collab would be EVERYTHING!! Lock them up in the studio!" - another user mentioned
"We will be supporting these two queens linkup" - a user said
"Is Selena going to watch and listen to her sing? What else would she do?" - a user said

Have Selena Gomez and Ariana Grande collaborated on a song before?

While Selena Gomez and Ariana Grande have not sung a song together officially, Ariana did co-write ,Ice Cream. Ice Cream featured a collaboration between Selena and K-pop girl band Blackpink and officially dropped on 28 August, 2020.

One of the writers, Tommy Brown, took to social media to share promotional artwork for the song while tagging Ariana Grande, Monet, Bekuh Boom, and Mr. Franks with the caption,

"Produced and written by me and some of my awesome friends."

Grande reposted the post on her Instagram story with the caption,

"proud of the squad, and so excited for this!!! so much love for this team and these ladies."

After the release of the track, Grande sent Gomez a flower arrangement shaped like an ice-cream cone. Selena Gomez captured an image of the flowers and posted it on her story with the caption,

"OBSESSED. Thank you so much for everything. Your support means the world."

Before admitting that she would like to collaborate with Grande, Selena Gomez, in a January 2025 interview at the Palm Springs International Awards, was asked if she had pitched Ariana to make music with her, to which the singer responded that she hadn't and she'd like to "keep friends friends."
