Days before the annual Tomorrowland music festival, the main stage burned down and was destroyed. The festival shared an official statement announcing the same:

“Due to a serious incident and fire on the Tomorrowland Mainstage, our beloved Mainstage has been severely damaged. We can confirm that no one was injured during the incident. We can announce that, DreamVille (campsite) will open tomorrow (Thursday, July 17) as planned and will be ready for all DreamVille visitors."

They added,

"All Global Journey activities in Brussels and Antwerp will take place as planned. We are focused on finding solutions for the festival weekend (Friday – Saturday – Sunday). More updates and detailed information will be communicated as soon as possible.”

However, all hope was not lost for the annual fest as a surprise artist stepped up and decided to restore the stage for the fest starting on July 18. Putting in overnight effort, elements from heavy metal band Metallica's WorldWired stage and touring rig were used to help build an alternative setup for the main stage.

A team was set up to help with the construction of the replacement stage, and with less than 24 hours to go before the festival’s scheduled opening, they finished the building, opening the fest at 2 PM as planned. The stage hosted its first DJ set at 4 PM.

Martin Garrix Responds to Metallica's efforts

After seeing Metallica's efforts, DJ Martin Garrix, who was also playing at the fest, took to social media to thank the group. Posting a picture with Metallica's Lars Ulrich, he wrote,

"I can not believe I’m actually typing this… but my set at Tomorrowland is still happening! 🙏"
He added, "massive love and a big shoutout to the incredible @tomorrowland team for pulling off miracles — and to @Metallica for coming through with the new stage parts 🤘❤️ Beyond excited to close the mainstage tonight. & this will hands down be the most unique Tomorrowland ever — and yes, I’ll be streaming it too.
"Lets make history. WE UNITE ❤️," he concluded.

Martin Garrix, who is known as the World’s No. 1 DJ, was set to headline the stage this evening.

The official account of the festival announced,

"Our teams are working day and night, with heart and soul, to turn the impossible into reality: Tomorrowland Belgium 2025 will open doors at 14:00. An alternative setup for the beloved Mainstage is planned to open at 16:00, pending any last-minute changes. All artists will perform as scheduled on all other stages as from 14:00."

Following this set, Martin Garrix is set to play his biggest UK headline show at London’s Gunnersbury Park in August.
