YouTuber and Travis Kelce’s former partner, Kayla Nicole, posted an update about her sister, moments after the NFL star announced his engagement to Taylor Swift. Taking to her Instagram story, she wrote:
“My little sister Layla just transferred to Langston University, an HBCU, where she's suiting up for the women's basketball team. According to The New York Post, Kayla Nicole and Travis Kelce were in a relationship for almost five years before they parted ways in 2022.
In October 2024, Nicole and Angel Reese sat down on the latter’s Unapologetically Angel podcast, where they discussed relationships and life updates. During the podcast, Reese said that this was the first time they had met in person and that Nicole had come to LSU for her sister. Reese asked her if she ever played basketball, to which the YouTuber replied:
“Yeah, in like the fourth grade.”
Reese mentioned that she was tall enough to play, but Nicole said that nobody knew she would be tall. She said:
“So, that's the thing, like that's like the running joke in my family that I'm the only non-athlete when in reality that's unfair because I was a gymnast growing up.”
She said gymnastics was a difficult sport as it takes a toll on one’s body and requires the person to work out extensively. Kayla Nicole mentioned that in gymnastics, there are no breaks, which could potentially be fatal.
What did Kayla Nicole say about dating an athlete?
Speaking about his past relationship, Nicole said she was involved with an athlete. However, when she started dating the person, she already had her own following. She said it wasn’t as if she had started at zero. She added that the assumption that she got her following after she started dating the person was unrealistic. Reflecting on her plans, Kayla Nicole said:
“It's not that I'll never date an athlete again I would just prefer to try something different in the future. I'm open to different things.”
She explained that dating men was always challenging, no matter what job they had. She said it was even harder when the man had power or money because that often attracted many women.
She also felt that powerful men might be intimidated by her, but at the same time, she didn’t think she would be interested in men who didn’t have their own success, so it went both ways. When asked about her opinion on dating athletes, Kayla Nicole said:
“I think would be to always have your own whether that's not even just like your own money, but like your own career, your own goals your own aspirations because it's really easy to get caught up in their dream and like their vision for their life.”
Kayla Nicole said that one’s relationship could be over in no time, so it’s important to have a career and financial strength.
