'Silent Alarm' turns 20: Bloc Party announce reissue with B-sides, unreleased demos, and more

One of the most beloved indie bands of the mid-2000s, Bloc Party, is celebrating the 20th anniversary of their debut album, Silent Alarm, with a reissue.

The album was originally released in February 2005. According to reports, the album became an instant classic as it was quick to earn critical acclaim for its multiple tracks, such as Helicopter, Banquet, and So Here We Are.

Now, two decades later, Bloc Party is celebrating this album with a deluxe reissue. The band took to its official Instagram page to announce the album reissue. The post read:

"Delighted to share the 20th Anniversary Deluxe Editions of our debut album, Silent Alarm. Available to pre-order now at blocparty.com. The box set consists of 4 LPs, including the original album, a collection of 12 B-sides and rarities, our 2004 BBC Radio 1 John Peel session, and 7 demos."

It also added:

"The John Peel Session and demos have never previously been released commercially. There will also be a 2CD edition, as well as a 2xLP high quality repress of the album. This 20th Anniversary Edition of Silent Alarm is released 26th September 2025."

The Silent Alarm 20th Anniversary Edition will be released on September 26, 2025, and will include a four-LP box set packed with unreleased material, rare tracks, and live recordings.

The box set includes the original 13 tracks of Silent Alarm, as well as a collection of B-sides, demos, and their legendary 2004 John Peel Session, which has never before been commercially available. The set will be made available in multiple formats, including a 2-CD edition, 2-LP repress, and an Amazon Music exclusive vinyl release.

The four-LP box set will feature the original Silent Alarm album on the first two vinyl records. These discs will include fan-favorites, such as Like Eating Glass, Compliments, and more.
