Singer Miguel shocked his fans when he revealed that he expanded his family by one with Margaret Zhang.
The “Sure Thing” singer confirmed the news in a post on Instagram, marking his daughter's first birthday. He welcomed his first child with Zhang privately.
“Our baby turned 1 today,” he penned on the September 9 post of him and his child, whose face is blurred out. “HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANGELITO!!! We love you so much,” he continued. “So proud and honored that you chose us to be your parents. Papá wrote you a song—hope it always reminds you of how loved you are.”
As of this writing, further details like the child's name remains unclear.
Everything we know about Miguel's current romance and new role as a father:
Miguel, who is known for his song, Adorn, is currently dating Zhang, a 32-year-old filmmaker. He was previously married to Nazanin Mandi for three years, though they finalized their divorce three years ago.
E! News reported in October 2022 that Nazanin filed for the separation in California, citing irreconcilable differences. In her filing, she reportedly asked for the pair's assets and wealth to be divided in accordance with their prenuptial contract.
In a statement to People Magazine in 2021, they said:
“After 17 years together, Miguel and Nazanin Mandi have decided to separate and have been for some time now. The couple both wish each other well."
However, they reconciled a few months later, only to eventually call it quits for the final time. The pair had reportedly been together for 17 years, since their late teens. Revolt has reported that they tied the knot in 2018.
In March 2021, she spoke to Janine Rubenstein about keeping the spark alive in her marriage during quarantine:
"We were used to being around each other a lot, but then we were also used to traveling a lot," she said at the time. "So keeping the spark alive was definitely something we had to stay on — because when you're in different cities, it's automatic to feel excitement [when you see each other again]. But being home [together] all the time, it's like, 'Okay, we have to find new things to watch, and to do and to read,'" she continued. "It was a lot, but overall, we did great. I have no complaints, [and] am grateful for everything."
As for Miguel's current beau, she is known for her stint as the former editor-in-chief of Vogue China. She has been linked to the singer for months as the pair made several appearances at major events like the Charles Finch and Chanel pre-Oscars dinner in Los Angeles earlier this March. However, they never publicly acknowledged each other.
As for Miguel, he is reportedly making a comeback to music this year following a seven-year hiatus from debuting full-length projects. His next album, Caos, drops on October 23, his 40th birthday. It will feature 12 tracks, and marks his first project since 2017’s War & Leisure.
