Taylor Swift revealed the cover art for her 12th studio album, 'The Life of a Showgirl,' on August 13, and here is what every single one of her album covers looked like through the years.

Pop icon and global sensation Taylor Swift has finally dropped the title and cover of her 12th studio album, "The Life of a Showgirl," after allegedly dropping easter eggs over almost three years. And before the album is officially out, here is your chance to reminisce over all her older albums over the years and the colors and eras attached to them.

Here's a list of all Taylor Swift's albums through the years

Taylor Swift (2006)

Starting off strong with her namesake album, Taylor Swift. Swift debuted at the age of sixteen with an album whose all five singles, including "Our Song" and "Teardrops on My Guitar," were certified platinum by the RIAA, and the album itself peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 Chart.

The cover featured a blue-eyed, curly-haired Taylor with a graphic blue and green background.

Fearless (2008)

After that, in 2008, the Nashville native gave us Fearless. Not only did she co-write all 13 tracks, but this album also featured her debut as a record producer. This album truly was the beginning for young Taylor, as in 2009, after the album's release, she set out on her first-ever headlining concert tour, the Fearless Tour from April 2009 to July 2010. The record also made her a Grammy-winning artist, as she won four Grammys, including album of the year.

Fearless had a pretty simple cover with Swift's hair flying wildly as she gives a side-profile pose in a white dress.

Speak Now (2010)

2010 was the year of Speak Now. The album, whose original title was supposed to be Enchanted but was changed by her label's president, featured a full side profile photo of Taylor in a flowing purple gown. The album included songs such as "Mine" and "Sparks Fly" and ended up debuting at No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart.

Red (2012)

One of her most iconic eras, Red, came out in 2012 and featured 16 songs -- including hits like "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" and "I Knew You Were Trouble" and a collaboration with one of her closest friends, Ed Sheeran.

The Red cover was a close-up shot of the pop star in a hat, emphasizing her iconic red lip. Interestingly, every Tuesday leading up to the album's release, she released a new song from the album.

1989 (2014)

1989 was a very personal and essential era in Taylor Swift's life, hence named after the year she was born. The album art for 1989 was a Polaroid picture of the "Blank Space" singer from her nose to her upper torso, while she wore a hoodie with seabirds on it.

The album also marked her full transition from country to pop. She told PEOPLE magazine in 2014,

"My music before this has been very guitar-heavy, live drums, it's had a very acoustic sound at its core. This is a sound that's based in synth pop and keyboards and automated drums and vocal layering."

Reputation (2017)

Reputation represented something the singer had never done before and portrayed a new kind of Taylor who no one had ever seen before. The extremely graphic album cover showcased the pop icon in a grungy look with newspaper print in the foreground and background, representing articles talking about her.

The album's accompanying stadium tour became the highest-grossing tour of all time in the United States.

Lover (2019)

Her 7th album, Lover, was a complete transition for the artist from the dark edginess of Reputation to soft pastels and upbeat, happy songs. The accompanying album cover showcased Taylor with blue-dipped hair and a glitter heart around one of her eyes, in front of a blue sky with pink clouds.

The album had multiple chart-topping singles, including ME! featuring Brendon Urie, You Need to Calm Down, The Man, and Lover.

Folklore (2020)

The pandemic brought on another aesthetic, vibe, and era for the singer who had just entered her 30s. Folklore came out with its moody, folksy sound and aesthetics. The cover art portrayed the artist in a black and white photo standing in a forest.

It was a surprise album, and she announced it via Instagram, captioning.

"Before this year, I probably would've overthought when to release this music at the 'perfect' time, but the times we're living in keep reminding me that nothing is guaranteed. My gut is telling me that if you make something you love, you should just put it out into the world. That's the side of uncertainty I can get on board with."

Evermore (2020)

Folklore was almost immediately followed by Evermore in the same year, almost making them sister albums with a similar sound and aesthetics. Back then, she shared on Twitter,

"To put it plainly, we just couldn't stop writing songs. To try and put it more poetically, it feels like we were standing on the edge of the folklorian woods and had a choice: to turn and go back or to travel further into the forest of this music. We chose to wander deeper in."

The cover was a simple image of Swift's back, dressed in a plaid coat, facing a similar forest.

Midnights (2022)

2021 marked the year when she started reclaiming her albums and started releasing the "Taylor's version" with new vault songs and the award-winning short film/music video of the 10-minute version of her song All Too Well from the album Red (Taylor's Version).

But 2022 welcomed her 10th studio album, which she announced while accepting the video of the year award for All Too Well at the 2022 MTV Music Video Awards. The album cover captured her in smoky blue eyeshadow as she held a flickering lighter.

Midnights also led to her historical record-breaking Eras Tour, which wrapped up last year.

In 2024, she released the eclectic The Tortured Poets Department, which, following the trend, she revealed during the Grammys while accepting her 13th Grammy Award. The album cover was bold and edgy, as the shot showcased Taylor wearing all black, lying on a bed, clutching herself.

The album had 16 tracks, and along with that, she also released four additional versions: The Manuscript Edition, The Bolter Edition, The Albatross Edition, and The Black Dog Edition. Each version had its own cover art and bonus tracks.

"The Life of a Showgirl" will be out on October 3, and besides an orange-colored era to look forward to, Taylor Swift is also entering a completely different new era in her life, being newly engaged to her now fiancé, Travis Kelce.
