Connie Francis recently shared her gratitude with fans on Facebook when her song from the 60s, Pretty Little Baby, went viral on TikTok. The song evokes a strong retro vibe, and fans and celebrities alike have been rushing to social media to make video edits while lip-syncing to the song's lyrics. While Connie Francis ruled the charts in the 60s, Pretty Little Baby had still been one of the lesser-known songs in her impressive catalog up until now.

More than 60 years after its release, the song has been catapulted into the mainstream media, a status the track never enjoyed even during the peak of Connie Francis' powers. Connie is now retired and had no idea about the belated success of her song until she was greeted with a phone call from close friend Ron Roberts. Her reaction to the news was priceless, as she shared her gratitude with fans on Facebook:

“My thanks to TikTok and its members for the wonderful, and oh so unexpected, reception given to my 1961 recording ‘Pretty Little Baby’. The first I learned of it was when [Concetta Records president Ron Roberts] called to advise me that I had ‘a viral hit’. Clearly out of touch with present day music statistics terminology, my initial response was to ask: ‘What’s that?’ Thank you everyone!”

Pretty Little Baby has been doing impressive numbers on Spotify too, and the idea that one of her songs would capture the attention of the audience more than 60 years since its release took Francis by surprise as well. In a separate statement, the singer expressed her delight at the unexpected turn of events.

Connie Francis gets to know the magic of social media

As the song became viral on TikTok, its ripple effects spilled over to other social media platforms as well. The revival of Pretty Little Baby is in full swing, and fans are all the more enthusiastic for it. As Connie Francis talked about how she appreciated her fans on social media, her fans left many supportive and admiring comments on her Facebook page. Thanking her new fans for their appreciation of her music, she said in a statement on May 19,

"I am thrilled and overwhelmed at the success of ‘Pretty Little Baby.' I recorded that song 63 years ago and to know that an entire new generation now knows who I am, and my music is thrilling for me. Thank you so much everybody, thank you TikTok"

The song's revival also highlights how social media helps bring people from different ages together. While the numbers that the track is currently doing are undoubtedly outstanding, for Francis, the moment was more about the emotional connection her music was able to forge with a new audience.

Beyond her musical achievements, Connie Francis' life story has been marked by braving terrible events, including mental health issues. The song's success also pays tribute to one of the greatest artists of the past century, and adds a bright chapter to the singer’s life while she continues to enjoy her retirement in Florida.
