Another user reiterated that the singer deserved this award, adding that no artist had a better year than Gaga: "THE ABSOLUTELY MOST DESERVING!!! No artist in the past 365 days had a bigger year than Gaga with both Die With A Smile & Abracadabra! Go argue with your mom!"

This was the 19th victory of Gaga at the VMAs for the 14-time Grammy winner.

The Artist of the Year award is one of the most looked-forward-to honors at VMAs and Gaga competed with some of the biggest names in the music industry.

Lady Gaga dedicates her VMAs award to her audience

The singer, in her acceptance speech at the ceremony, said that this award meant so much to her.

“Getting ready for this show, I thought how much it would mean to me to win this award tonight, and I cannot begin to tell you what this means to me. I thought about what it means to be rewarded for being an artist, being rewarded for something that is already so rewarding,” the singer said.

The artist dedicated her award to her fans and thanked her audience for their support.

“I dedicate this award to the audience. You, you very much deserve a stage to shine on, and I give you all my applause. Thank you, Little Monsters, my fans, for always supporting me and always supporting the monster in me.”

The singer also thanked her fiancé, Michael Polansky, on stage and dedicated this award to him as well. Polansky worked as a writer and executive producer on Gaga's latest album, Mayhem.
