Sabrina Carpenter's latest track, "Manchild," debuted at #1 on the Global Spotify chart with 8.05 million streams.

The track, which dropped this week on June 6, also reportedly made its debut at #1 on the US Spotify chart with 3.3 million streams. Fans were all but surprised to learn of this, though, seeing as around this time last year, the singer teased fans for a bit before she dropped "Espresso," which then went on to become one of the defining songs of the summer.

Nonetheless, droves are flocking to X to gush over the singer, with many noting that she is exceptionally talented. Here's how one user reacted, for instance:

"The way she only makes hits.."

The comments didn't end there:

"Already a massive global smash hit, she WILL be getting that #1 debut on the Billboard Hot 100!" someone exclaimed.
"Oh but Stan Twitter said it was a flop? LOL MANCHILD THE HIT THAT YOU AREEEEE!!!!" another gushed.
"she dropped a diss track in a baby voice and still cleared the charts. unstoppable," one more quipped.
"This Diva. Anyone who calls out men in a soft babygirl voice like hers gets hours worthy of non stop streams from me," a fourth user opined.

The microblogging platform was visibly rife with appreciation for Sabrina Carpenter:

"idk why y'all were underestimating her busy woman debuted over 5M and it was deluxe track she's a MAIN POP GIRL put some respect to her name," one user penned.
"this is insane omg it’s mother’s summer again," another asserted.
"She’s absolutely paying for her success. She had multiple albums prior to the last one and no one cared about her," a naysayer speculated.
"This makes no sense, but I am SO HAPPY FOR HER! Certified main pop girl status! Congratulations to Sabrina and the carpenters," someone else chimed in.

While several online were thrilled for Sabrina Carpenter, a few did speculate that she may be "buying" her success.

Everything we know about Sabrina Carpenter's latest track and its accompanying visuals:

A day after she dropped the audio version of her latest single, "Manchild," Sabrina Carpenter followed it up with a cheeky music video on Friday, June 7. Directed by Vania Heymann and Gal Muggia, the video follows Carpenter trying to hitchhike her way across the American West as she encounters a series of non-threatening, but mostly incompetent men.

In the video, the artist is seen with her own shotgun, drinks wine through a straw in the front seat, sees one of the drivers drive the car over a cliff by accident, goes swimming with sharks and hot tubbing with swines, and more. All of the men apparently have no skill or propensity to help the singer get where she needs to go. The song itself is biting and clever:

“Manchild, why you always come a-runnin’ to me?” Sabrina Carpenter sings. “F*ck my life, won’t you let an innocent woman be? / Never heard of self-care / Half your brain just ain’t there…” She goes on, “Oh, I like my boys playin’ hard to get / And I like my men all incompetent.”

Shortly after she released the video, the former Disney Child star wrote on Instagram:

“it’s exactly what i pictured in my head. no animals were harmed in the making but some men were.”

Just this Thursday, she reflected on the creation of the track alongside songwriter Amy Allen and producer Jack Antonoff, writing:

“it ended up being the best random tuesday of my life,” the Espresso songstress penned. “this song became to me something I can look back on that will score the mental montage to the very confusing and fun young adult years of life.”

Sabrina Carpenter, who is currently on a short hiatus from her Short n’ Sweet Tour, kicked things off in September last year. She started in North America, and come spring, she will make her way to Europe for performances scheduled at London’s Hyde Park in July, among others.
