On Wednesday, June 4, Katy Perry, now firmly back on planet Earth, began the Australian leg of her Lifetimes Tour. During her second show in Sydney, a fan jumped on stage and put his arms around Perry in an alarming moment.
Katy Perry then, after taking a moment to gather herself, acknowledged the incident to the entire crowd,
“Well, there’s never going to be another show like this. So just enjoy it, Sydney.”
This was evidently an unacceptable breach of security, and Katy Perry is fortunate the situation didn’t escalate further.
Katy Perry surprised on stage by fan
The incident transpired while Katy Perry was singing one of her most recognizable hits, “Hot N Cold.” A male fan rushed the stage and put his arm around her in a side hug, before she brushed his arm off and walked away. The man then broke into a popular Fortnite dance before two security personnel showed up and attempted to apprehend him.
Katy resumed singing as the security personnel escorted the man to a side stage, where two more guards were waiting. The group of four security guards then removed the fan.

This is not the first unusual incident at one of Katy Perry’s recent shows. At a May 17 performance in Las Vegas, the pop icon jokingly accused a member of the crowd of DMing her fiancé, actor Orlando Bloom.
"Cute grin. I know why you're here. Listen, if you keep DM'ing my man... Oh, Kyle? I know, I know. You've been doing it for months, ever since the [Play] residency."
Incidentally, according to a report by PEOPLE, Katy has also been extremely frustrated by the reception to 143, which came out in September—a factor that has added further strain to their relationship.
Subsequently, at the same performance, she had a nearly disastrous wardrobe malfunction in which her bra came undone on stage. Perry changed the choreography on the fly to avoid a complete disaster, although, according to a TikTok video, she was still heard saying,
"Oh s---, my bra is gonna come off.”
into the microphone while making her way to the main stage.
Perry is on track to resume the Australian leg of her Lifetimes Tour, with the next show taking place on June 10 in Sydney.
