As Latto shares snippets from her upcoming music on her Instagram—shot on what appears to be the campus of Syracuse University in central New York—fans have begun reacting. In the carousel, she was spotted wearing Carmelo Anthony’s Syracuse jersey with baggy jorts and Timberland boots. This came after she headlined the university’s Block Party over the weekend.

From the clips she shared, the one in the shower room has not been received well by fans and critics alike. A user commented, “They prison shower background is making me a tad sick.”

This past weekend, Latto was the main attraction at the Block Party 2025 at Syracuse University, and her presence was unmistakable. Highlights from the event—including photos, performances, and crowd interactions—were shared by the rapper on April 29. Latto abandoned her typical “Big Mama” persona and instead called herself “Big Daddy.” She wore a vintage New York-inspired ensemble that included Timbo boots, oversized True Religion shorts, and a Syracuse Carmelo Anthony jersey.

Latto’s look was a tribute to Anthony, who notably led the Syracuse basketball team to a national championship in 2003.

Not all of Latto’s photos shot at the university were well received. Online, an image of Latto standing in front of a urinal as though she were using it—along with a snippet from the music video filmed inside a shower room—sparked widespread discussion.

Her choice to shoot in a bathroom with open, prison-style showers left many wondering what message she was trying to convey. A user commented:

High energy performance and surprises for the students

Despite the mocking of her photos, Latto’s performance at Block Party 2025 was a major success. According to The Daily Orange, she performed over 15 songs, including crowd favorites like “Georgia Peach,” “Blick Sum,” and “Sunday Service.”

She also switched up the lyrics of her song “Brokey” to include the line, “when I leave Syracuse,” as a playful nod to the crowd—earning cheers and applause.

Latto surprised the audience further by gifting one student $1,000 and another a pair of Givenchy boots. Kumba Cavazzini, a student from Cornell University who received the boots, said:

“One day, I was just a little girl screaming Latto songs in my living room every day. She noticed me today.”
